I say no for a fourth bout. It could go on forever and prove nothing more than it has in three fights. At some point it becomes nothing more than senseless beatings.

Besides, I am sure that IV would be a PPV.

    I second that.

Mind you, if last night's fight were taken in isolation, not as part of a trilogy, people would be screaming for a rematch. And you could hardly argue against Marquez deserving as much, should he want it. Anyway, I'd say a fourth is pretty inevitable, and hopefully they'll be paid a king's ransom for it.

That said, I've seen enough now, thanks.

Question: when these fights go to a DVD etc., will the fighters get a cut of the profits? Is it a standard part of any contract these days?

No i don't think they should fight again. They had 3 great fights now lets see them fight somebody else.

Yes they should and yes they will. I don't see any bigger money available elsewhere that VM4 would be worth to them so they'll fight again almost certainly.

I'd love to see it but maybe down the road a bit. I think it would make for a bigger fight if these 2 went seperate ways for a few years then met back up.

I agree with those who say 'maybe, but not immediately'.

There is no 'need' for a fourth fight. They gave their best, they both cemented their place in the pantheon of great trilogies, and they already have their ticket to Canastoga in the bank. Also - and both Vasquez and Marquez might disagree with me here - I sort of consider the trilogied tied, and that for me is a great way of finishing it. No, there does not need to be a winner, as there certainly does not need to be a loser among those two.

Much better for me would be if they cashed in, got some decent money against contenders (god knows they've earned this right), and proved that these two are truly the best at the weight. Which they obviously are, but at some time they need to fight other fighters to prove this still is the case.

So, I'd like to see Vasquez in with the winner of Caballero-Ponce de Leon (effectively unifying three belts (and the Ring belt)), and Marquez could go after Molitors belt. He might take on Bernard Dunne or Kiko Martinez beforehand - those would be great, relatively high profile but surely winnable fights imo.

Then in 2010 or 2011 Vasquez-Marquez could meet again, 4 (5) belts on the line, in a possible 'farewell fight' that hopefully will generate a huge ppv payday. They deserve that.

I agree with Mikkel, fight others first then maybe a 4th later on. Sickens me how little money they made, these fights WILL take their toll on both eventually.

They should both give themselves a pat on the back for three great fights and just assume that if they fight 10 times each guy will win five for whatever reason. Both of them are too good to spend any more time fighting each other. We could damn near have fights like this every weekend if promoters decided the fans were important enough to them. There are a ton a great match up's out there.

Interview with Micky Ward on ESPN and he was on the side of them not fighting again, just too brutal. I tend to agree with him but its impossible to tell how much its taken out of them.
