It was the first time Graziano was ever knocked out when he was beatebn by Zale in Yankee Stadium. It started a bloody mess of a Trilogy which will go down in history as one of the most visceral and testosterone fuelled rivalries ever to be sanctioned inside the boxing ring. Riots occured in prisons around New York upon the announcement of the result of the first fight. The result of the second almost gave the New York Commisioner a heart attack.

Graziano deemed Zale to be "made of the same steel they mined in the place he came from." Graziano's quality spoke for itself. Graziano claimed he wasn't hurt in the first fight, but that may have been because he was slipping out of conciousness. Zale too was pummeled and in the return he felt the full effects of the New Yorkers rage fuelled attack. The decider was less publicised and I must admit I've never seen it personally. But with the win Zalwe secured himself a palce in the HoF and Graziano was filled with enough fuel to last him the rest of his career as one of the most aggressive fighters of all time
