Having met Enzo a couple of times, it's impossible not to become a fan. The humble persona and friendly demeanour aren't put on. Thats him!
However, one can't help but being nervous in the build up to this fight, Haye can dole out punishment that is very difficult for any man to take. He's got a comprehensive amateur card behind him and he's coming off his biggest win. Haye does pose a huge threat early and in my opinion Haye will want it to finish early. It's not in his interest to get into the mid and late rounds with Maccarenelli, who's stamina is actually far superior to Haye's.
If the Macca fan was looking for encouraging signs, they may locate the primary sign in a surprising location. I believe Enzo has developed into a superior boxer under the tutelage of Enzo Calzaghe. His movement and defence have excelled alongside his conditioning and one can't deny that these are areas Haye is lacking. Although holding his hands to impersoante a classy slick boxer, Haye is not that elusive and his defence is actaually poor. Added to his noted stamina problems and it's easy to see that it is in Enzo's interest to drag the fight into the later rounds.
As we saw December 8th, my man Ricky was Ko'd in Vegas. This was largely a result of fatigue and the accumulation of clean shots he received. Should Enzo drag the fight into the second half, perhaps spoiling the fight in the early goings and dogging the body of Haye in order to slow him down, he has an excellent chance of stoppinh HAYE IN THE LATER HALF OF THE FIGHT.
