For a guy who claimed he didnt like boxing, Eubank sure had a lot of heart.

There 1st fight wasn't that good because both men wern't in good shape notably Eubank who was badly weighted drained. I personally thought Watson won there 1st meeting and got robbed. Both men were much better in the rematch at Super Middleweight. Watson was like a machine that night he was beating Eubank from pillar to post, i always mention this round as one of the greatest of all time, in fact the fight itself is one of the greatest of all time. Out of all the British Middleweight/Super Middleweight fights like Benn vs Eubank 1 etc, i think it was the best of the lot. This also ruined Eubank because he lost his killer instinct after this fight. I remember after the fight that Eubank hinted that Watson may of took illegal substance or something like that, because Watson was so strong that night.

Yeah I remember that. Eubank said that he wanted Watson tested - he meant it as a statement of how strong and good Watson had been and never meant it to suggest Watson was taking anything. It was the interviewer Gary Newbon who mentioned drugs. I have mever liked Gary Newbon he always seemed to treat fighters with a little bit of contempt to me.

I believe Watson tried to sue him for that statement. Eubanks called it misguided and I believe Watson tried to set him up to say something over the phone years later.
It was a quality fight and Watson was inspired, never seen him perform like that in his whole career. He was world class and would have given anyone trouble. Eubanks showed heart and punch power, which is why Roy Jones showed him respect.
The loss to Watson was also the best thing that could have happened to Benn. He said that the hype had gotten out of control and that everything was fake... even the pony tail he sported for the fight.
Eubank said that he would have fought Roy Jones if the fight had been made but that he was not about to go looking for it. Personally I think Eubank would have lost agianst RJJ but it would have been a great fight.
