I think it's just as naive to assume that the first time a drunk driver is arrested is the first time he was caught. Sure, he was caught only once and that's where it ends so far as the facts go, but I don't buy anybody who says their doctor prescribed them something and they didn't know what it was. That would be beyond irresponsible on both parties parts to the point of not being believed.

To piggy back on your comment, in college, I used to catch shop lifters for a retail store. When caught, almost everyone of them would swear it was the first time they ever stole anything.

Apparently, some members of this forum would naively buy that explanation.

On those same lines, do you believe that James Toney only used steroids twice: the two times he was caught.

When someone is definitively caught cheating by an objective test, they lose the "benefit of the doubt."

I was willing to give Toney the benefit of the doubt after the first time. He didn't get ripped overnight and he had been plagued by injuries. I thought he might have taken something just to heal his body, but after the 2nd time. Hell, he's stupid for not turning that fat into muscle and my esteem in him has plummeted.

Exactly. Hadn't heard about this failed test before, but it's turned my opinion against Vitali for good.
The vast majority of drugs cheats plead ignorance, after all, prison is full of people who didn't do it. As a PhD in sports science his pleading of ignorance is even more ridicilous.

I hadn't even thought of that, but you're absolutely right. That makes Klitschko's claim of 'innocence' even more unbelievable.

I think it's just as stupid to assume that the first time someone gets caught for something it means they have been doing it all along or multiple times since then...sure it might occur that way most of the time but it's still an assumption either way and what I was saying was the only FACT there is about Vitali using steroids is one failed test over 10 years ago while Vitali was an amateur boxer.

....I also think it's ignorant for everyone to assume a PhD means that you have any kind of understanding about medicine or steroids specifically. Vitali has a PhD in Sports Science which is basically the study more of diet, body types, exercises, nutrition, motor control, biomechanics, physiology, psychology, etc.....no where does it say anything about chemistry or pharmacology.

To take one test and fail it before your professional career starts and to have people dislike you for it is a little strong....he's been tested several times since then and hasn't failed one since...I think that deserves more credit than the one failed test. If he used again he would have been caught by now.

Vitali (that fought LL) is in a different league to any current Heavyweight including his brother (who is the current best imo)

Had it not been for injury I think he would be undisputed champion today and not have come even close to losing.
