I read on another boxing forum that a Danish Newspaper said the fight was being negotiated and close to happening. I am Not sure if that news was older than the clipping you just posted or not though.

It seems like it may be older news as that release you posted was from today. Could Kessler have backed out?

If this fight comes together, Kessler is going to punish Miranda. Too much skill and too much speed. Pavlik's was able to hit Miranda almost at will and unless Edison's defense has improved exponentially this could get very ugly.
I hate it when two fighters I really like fight one another.

I love it when two favorites fight. Miranda and Pavlik was a war, and I could not choose who I wanted to win. Both fought their hearts out and gave us fans a hell of a battle.

Miranda licked his wounds and is right back wanting to mix it up. That is the heart of a lion and win or lose, he is a true warrior just because he is willing to fight anyone. With so many out there playing it safe by carefully selecting opponents, protecting their records in an attempt to earn future paychecks, Miranda is a breath of fresh air.

Kessler never fought great opposition either until Calzaghe IMO. Miranda is a style he has never faced before and it should be interesting. Even though Miranda will most likely get out boxed, he will get his licks in and go down swinging. He will also test Kessler's chin.

This is funny. Edison Miranda is like junk food. No good, but you love it anyway. He's calling fighters out because that's the only real way he's going to get $$$. He's a Ricardo Mayorga without the boxing skill and he's going to be chased right back into his home country for more club fights. He won't beat Taylor, Green, Jones, Kessler, Hanshaw or any other elite SMW. All you have to be able to do is get out of the way of a haymaker and Miranda is SOLVED. Pavlik took the shortcut; absorbing the blow so he could steamroll Pantera.

Kessler has never faced a style like mine, either, but I'm pretty certain he'd beat me up. And there's a world of difference between Kessler stepping up in competition and Miranda stepping up in competition. You could see Kessler was something special before Calzaghe (and I'm sorry, Librado Andrade was no slouch). Miranda tore guys heads off, but he didn't acquit himself well when it counted.

You can't prove that by me. Mayorga managed to beat a champion and defend his title. That's the only difference I see between the two.

Miranda won the IBF champion from Abraham (just not offically) and defended it successfully twice.

Agreed...IMO Mayorga is better skilled then Miranda....Mayorga can actually box fairly well...he just prefers to slug it out

Miranda has never been dominated the way Mayorga was by Trinidad and De la Hoya.
The arguement that Mayorga decides to slug it disguising his boxing skill is also applicable to Miranda.
Should Miranda focus less on his power I belive he can box quite effectively. Although out hustled, the fight with Abraham showed moments of decent boxing form Miranda, as did the blow out of Banks.

Mayorga however struggeled with Fernado Vargas. A way past it Fernado Vargas. If Mayorga could box that competently, he wouldn't have chosen to slug it out with Vargas at a higher weight than he was comfortable as we've all seen Vargas out boxed by both De la Hoya and Mosely.
