It wouldn't elevate Ruiz, only show that Vlad is a bum. With all the hugging, and rugged work, it's very possible that Ruiz could wear Vlad down. I just don't think that Ruiz deserves another shot. But, I also didn't think the Byrd-Vlad fight should happen. Vlad fights Valuev, The winner of Rock and Maskuev fights Sergei. Then the winners fight. Forget Toney and Brewster for now. Unify, and make the contenders fight for the first shot at the unified champ. Brewster fights Toney for the first crack.
