HA....yes as a matter of fact, I do have a yurning to pay extremely high taxes, wear striped ties with striped suits AND striped shirts at the same time, drive on the wrong side of the road, drink hot tea, have no sense of humor, never own a gun, and make up cute little nicknames for objects like trucks, apartments, and umbrellas....oh instead of umbrella we could call it a bumberchute....oh that would be most pleasant, yes indeed.

You already pay high taxes and they're going to get a great deal higher due to the actions of your dumbass president, or as he's known in North Carolina, "the professor." Who do you think just bailed out Bear Stearns today, hmmm? It's the US taxpayer picking up that one and future bank failures. (Pop quiz : how many US financial institutions are currently failing to meet their legal minimum reserve requirements ?)

If you think Brits dress badly you should spend an afternoon walking around the financial district in New York, where you'll see every possible sartorial crime that you can commit within the available suit/shirt/tie parameters, including a firm of NYSE floor traders who wear Hawaiian shirts with John Gotti suits. Compared to the US the City of London is a Paris catwalk. Tea drinking is yet another thing you colonials got backwards.


There's quite a bit of humour just in this thread although obviously mainly at your expense and as for making up names for stuff, you're the boys who turn everything into an acronym so that you don't have to remember half a dozen words, which as we all know is something far too difficult for American brains to manage.

The President is a part of a whole when it comes to decision making....Congress had to approve those tax cuts and the budget...and we have democrats in charge of it now and have they done anything to be proud of? Nope, all they do is grandstand against the war, pollution, and try to help out their donors.

I bet you can't wait until Barrack Obama or Hillary Clinton try to turn the US into a socialist country....what is it about tax payers paying for EVERYTHING that really makes you happy? That kind of system makes for lazy people and as you can see in parts of America that's the last thing we need

The Republican congress passed those disastrous tax cuts and the Democratic congress is repealing them. The GOP congress was generally accepted to have been the worst in living memory. A list of the bills they tried to pass while they were in charge other than tax cuts and giveaways to corporations :

gay marriage

flag burning

late-term abortions

abstinence programmes instead of sex education

and so on.

All issues to play to the prejudices of their base but not things that actually matter.

Meanwhile the Dems want to stop the US spending trillions on oil wars in the Middle East which are doomed to failure and instead invest that money developing non-fossil green energy so that the US can ignore the Middle East. Slightly more worthwhile than a law against flag burning.

So exactly which party is grandstanding here, hmmm ?


America is already a socialist country, it's just that it's corporate socialism in America with the handouts going to corporations. Those Communists Bear Stearns got an open cheque yesterday from the US taxpayer and there's going to be a big queue of socialist Wall Street bankers outside the fed over the next year or so waiting for their own handouts -- and you're going to be paying for it. It's going to be the biggest transfer of wealth in US history over the next ten years when you take inflation into consideration. Bigger than even the amounts Reagan and Bush 41 robbed you of. You seem to be determined to ignore reality and continue to vote for the people who relentlessly fuck you up the arse when they're in power. Why is this ?
