Lazcano is a perfectly reasonable opponent for someone coming off a big loss. And if so many people are willing to pay see it, so what? The 50-odd thousand that show up at Eastlands will have a rare old time of it. The ticket prices are low and the PPV is how much, about £20? What the hell are you going to buy with your spare £20? A taxi fare? A pizza and crappy bottle of wine?

And since when did a fight being over in five rounds make it a rubbish fight? Hearns-Hagler, over in three, what a load of rubbish that was!

It's all very well for 'true boxing fans' to wail and gnash their teeth about Hatton's career path, but unfortunately there are only about 200 of you in the entire world, not enough to keep the sport going. So be grateful to us mugs who do buy into events that may not always feature two stellar names, both at the peak of their powers, in a 50-50 showdown, because we keep the machine oiled.
