hehe I know what your saying Mick but I just think this new rep system means people earn a rep way too quickly.
I'm sure you'll remember before we had the new board Wacko had over 3000 coolclicks, he was over 1000 more ahead of anybody else.
It took him 4 years of being a 100% devoted member to this site and countless rbr's to earn that number.
Under our old coolclick system he could have had a year off and come back and STILL had more coolclicks than anybody else. A coolclick score was harder to earn and thus reflected more fairly on the status of someone like Wacko.
Now if you sort members by reputation in just a single month he's already been dumped to 4th place
By the end of April I doubt he will even be on the top 30 page. If he hasn't returned by the end of the summer he will barely make the top 100
I personally think that sucks. It took me over two years to earn just over 2000 coolcliks. I've more than doubled that score in a month on the new system, and remember that with the constant inflation every month from now this process will accelerate faster and faster!
Furthermore I miss the anonymous sad clicks. I've only ever had one bad rep since we started this new system, from Violent D for saying his ICQ Flower made him look gay.
I just don't think the new system is very fun any more
I used to prefer patiently building collecting my coolclicks one at a time, cursing when someone anonymously gave me a sadclick and wondering who it was and why
A person's reputation was patiently built over a long time, slowly, bit by bit.
I mean no disrespect to Clubber at all when I say this but I don't think I even knew you before a couple of months ago and already you have a reputation of 1000 and within a couple of months at that rate will overtake our all time most esteemed member Wacko in reputation.
That's just not right imo.
I personally vote we go back to the old coolclick system.
Anybody with me?![]()

By flipshits do you mean Hairy Terry? He's been banned for awhile now hasn't he?
Yes,a lot of peoples reps have been skyrocketing (mine included). The main problem is we CAN'T GIVE REP ANONYMOUSLY!!!!! That's the main reason right there. WHEN SOMEONE GIVES REP TO SOMEONE, THAT PERSON USUALLY RETURNS THE FAVOR, WHETHER IT BE GOOD OR BAD.

Oh by the way Bilbo, I've been on this forum since 2004, I just didn't always have time to post as much, and you've been here since 2005. I'm older than you!

Bilbs, I hate to bother to go look but after how many Rep. Points do earn 1 punch point?
Do you know?
Array
That's definitely partly it but the inflating punch power is the biggest problem imo.
It means it will always be easier and easier to earn rep in the future than was in the past and is right now. That kind of sucks to me.
Also I think its undemocratic!
During a general election you might be the most intelligent, well educated man on the planet who has thouroughly researched every nominee before you vote.
Your next door neighbour on the other hand might be a complete idiot who can barely muster the intelligence to mark his ballot paper correctly.
Nevertheless you still both only get 1 vote each, on account of every man (and woman) being equal. That's democracy.
Our new rep system where people like myself and Mick have huge punch power whilst other longterm members who are every bit as respected such as Big H, Scrap and Mark TKO have very little just makes no sense to me.
Coolclicks was the ultimate system imo. 1 click either good or bad per person. Perfect democracy in action.
Just sent a message saying that. The ability to give so much to a person at one time is also what's causing the inflation, as well as not being anonymous.
People won't give bad rep because they're afraid of getting it back, and people give a lot of good rep, because they know 80% of the time they're also going to get it back.
The reason my rep count has went up like the gas prices is that I too give a lot of good rep, but I also used to give a lot of cool clicks too. Whenever I see a post I like, I'd coolclick or rep that person every time (unless I had already CC'd him earlier that day or had to spread some rep around), so it is NOT because I am a brown-noser.
But I will admit, I don't give people bad rep because I don't want to get it back either or start a repping war...![]()

Saddo fixed it to where you can limit the rep you give someone so if you give 10 for a joke and give 20 for an article or 30 for picture of Bilbo than you can put things into perspective.
I took action with the rep I give for the prediction contest because I noticed that some people with less than 100 posts had a 4 or 5 punch power already. That's ridiculous.
Anyway, I think what Saddo did fixed the problem. I think.

Maybe fix it to where you need 10,000 reps to get a new "punch" number?
Or the higher punch you get the more or less (depending on how you wanted to work it) reps you need to get more "power?"
Either way the strong get stronger. I bet there are some people who have to jump through hoops to get rep and others who get rep for farting.![]()
