Your right tipping in America is way out of hand, read some stuff on tipping etiquette here and it's just a joke. Your supposed to tip in a restaurant since the waiters only make a couple dollars an hour so I give 15 to 20 % and thats a good tip. But reading this stuff they say you should tip your hairdresser, your mechanic, you grass cutting service, your paper boy, your mail man, you name it and they all have their hands out wanting extra for a service you just paid more for then it's worth. You want good service from your motorcycle service department, bring them some donuts or a 12 pack of beer after you just spent 20 grand on a bike. I could go on and on buts that enough, you get the idea. The only ones I will tip are waiters and the tip is only as good as the service, so if the service is bad 15 to 20 % is out of the question.

I agree with tipping the waiters/waitresses and paperboy.....if my haircut goes well i tip them too, i'll be damned if i tip a mechanic that just streched out 15 min worth of work over 2 hrs at $50 an hr...screw em...the yard mower to...you pay him to cut the grass... it's grass.....I pay you 20k for a bike you better buy me a 12 pack....and not that cheap bud crap either...talkin Corona or Shinerbock...something nice....

Hold Up.......... this isnt about B-Hop going to prison or living in poverty as a child. man if u eat at a restaraunt u better tip cuz here in america its etiquettte to tip. most waiters/waitresses live their lives based on their tips cuz yes most restaraunts pay minimum or less than minimum wage so their whole income is based on their tips. I see nothing wrong with not tipping I pay for the service. case closed.

I also see nothing wrong with shopping at Costco. Money is hard to make, and even harder to keep. Hopkins has to look out for himself and his family. Besides, he's got like 40 more years left to live. he can't be living it up. he has to live a moderate lifestyle.

first of all this whole tipping thing is mostly an american thing. to all of you brothers from other regions of the world tipping may be different where u live. but here some places its even mandatory as it reads on the menu. ahha once i was at hooters on the southside of chicago and they automatically slap on the tip cuz the southside is so ghetto. anyway many people are saying cuz b-hop is old and cant afford to tip blah blah thats BS. he can leave 2-4 Fukkkkin dollars for his meal for the waitress. and shopping at costco is the truth! they got all the best ishhh there for real cheap and in bargain size. i used to live in beverly hills and all the stars shopped at the local costco. but this shows how much of a a$$$hole b-hop is cuz he had to wait to make 10million in order to even think of tipping. while he was making a million or two for the last 10years and atleast 6figures before that. everyone who's worked with b-hop in a financial sense said b-hop screwed them over. im just waiting for oscar to get pissed at him for screwing oscar over any second now and maybe that would be grounds for a rematch when b-hops like 43 ahahhaha. the opening sequence of res dogs was meant to show who was more compassionate and who was not. the one character explains his own mother was a waitress and it was a hard job for her.

Please don't cry for waiters. Some make more than you think. I'm from NY and believe it or not 15-20% in an ny restaurant is some decent change. I mean i pay nearly $15 in tips at some and keep in mind I go to cheap restaurants. Imagine a person making $5 an hour which would be about 180 a week but on friday,sat,and sun they work 8 tables and get $15 the least from each. Thats $360 + $180= $540 a week, sometimes more sometimes less.I've worked in a restaurant as a teen and made just about that much every week. Truth is tipping is your choice even though in some restaurants here you have to. If hop don't wanna tip he doesn't have to. The truth is you pay for your services when you pay for your meal. If I just dropped $150 on a meal and all you did was bring it to me does that mean I have to pay you.If anything we should start tipping the cooks.

Here's my thing on tipping...& I don't give two shats where the fwock I am...it's a necessity.

Until youv'e worked in the food industry...only then do you understand...& I don't mean you bitches that have ran a fast food window...that aint fwockin service!

You work at a 5 star restaraunt with a party of 10+ people & then get a shat tip...say you don't believe in tipping.

A man that can't tip properly...fwock that batch!

I even tip when I eat @ my local mexican eatery $5...even if the service is half ass...I know that no matter what...they aint gettin paid jack...but they did bring me atleast 2 of the long island iced teas that I order in a 30 minute time span...& that means something.

They should just pay them properly in the first place. The price I see on the menu is what I expect to pay. Why should I be subsidising the restaurant to underpay their staff?

You make a good point about Europe. Definitely the worst customer service in the world.

However, that does not make the US system right either.

I think it is entirely reasonable to pay the price stated on the menu and then - and only then - leave something additional for good service OVER AND ABOVE your expectations. Usual service is part of normal overhead and should be costed on the menu,.
