Can anyone explain this new Thanking feature?

Just noticed this today and have not seen a thread about it...Just looking for a bit of knowledge on it....Can you tell who thanked you?....What exactly does it mean?...what is the difference between that and giving out rep?

Yeh,Bilbo layed on the floor and pitched a fit about reps getting out of hand for newbies and Vetran posters not being in the lead and getting there just do so "Ta-daa".Now you can simply thank someone (basically a CC) without actually contributing to there rep or punchpower.while all along you could actually choose how much rep (1 point =1 CC really)to give on a scale so now we just have more .............tools or gadgets ?At the bottom of your post,it says who thanked you.

Leave it to Bilbo for making things more complicated then need be by whining.....Gets anymore difficult and newbies will have to get a handbook with their membership
