Can anyone explain this new Thanking feature?

I think it's too similar to the rep system,it's like having 2 parallel systems,one will eventually stop being used or will not be used as often. If I thank someone,why would I need to give them reps?

OK just the few responses to this thread tells me that the thanks feature is a bad idea...and no matter what system i implant not everyone will be happy. so why bother doing all the work to be back at square one.

it has now gone and i will just be working on the the rep feature which has its faults but the main fault i see with the reps system is it is being taken far too serious and compared to much to the CC/SC system which also had its faults and complaints.

Yeah I find it has taken away from what this site is all about, boxing.

I can see why the veterans would feel why this place would be watered down, perhaps a special title for them or something.
