I was actually enthusiastic about Audley after the Olympics.
Funny to see how it's turned out.

It's ironic you say that.
When he turned pro I was looking for all the signs....When he threw a right uppercut I was like; YES YES Lennox used to do that!
But when the going got a little tougher he just didn't have the mental fortitude....A real pity.

Yeah exactly, I thought he had the height, the reach, the skills, the cool hair he was the truth.
It reminds me of Ewan McGregor when he's Ben Kinobi at the end of the Clone Wars yelling to Anakin ' YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!!!'
But instead of trying to kill Obi 1 Audley just took his light sabre and disembowled himself.![]()
Ha Ha thats true!
I remeber meeting Audley. I can recall he was a big guy, dressed nearly all in leather at the time (not how you invision it Bilbs!) and he was surrounded by minders.
He adopted this, aggresive air of confidence, that I felt was a persona he adopted perhaps because of some insecurity or inadequcy issues?
I feel he is a suffferer of the "Zab Judah Syndrome."

I had heard ever since he turned pro rumours from the local boxing gym where I live that people who had sparred with him said he had no punch and that he had been floored several times in sparring.
I always put it down to hearsy but maybe he was just a mediocre fighter who won the Olympics because of a combination of being much older and more experienced, a style perfectly suited to the amatuer system and weak competition that year
Call me crazy though, but I still want him to achieve.
Arrogance aside, he's still an Olympic Gold medallist and it's a crying shame to see such talent wasted.
