Nothing to do with him beating Maragrito...I would say the same thing about any fighter be it Williams or otherwise that wins a world title,,does not rematch the former champion then takes a year off telling everyone in site willing to listen how great they are and how everyone is afraid to fight them, they are taking everyones title etc...then loses his on the first defense...
