Regardless of who was at fault, that is awfully late to split with your trainer of that many years this close to a fight.

Meanwhile, Alexander looks pretty good. Good jab and tight defense and I like all the different angles he has for the left. Needs to close the distance a bit though to get the hooks working.

It is pretty late, but then again with about three weeks left, I'm pretty sure all the training and tactics were covered for the fight. Plus since him and Cunningham have been together for so long he probably knows what he would say anyway, plus Spinks has loads of experience to lean on.

But I don't know if I would want to risk dumping my trainer when I'm facing just a skilled veteran. We have already seen what what motivated older fighters can accomplish, like Nate Campbell or Joel Casamayor, so I don't know if I would be so sure of myself to dump my trainer so close to the fight. Verno Philips is no walk in the park and Spinks may miss having that familiar voice in his corner.
