Hows the saying go.....Quality over Quantity.

Calzaghe is a hyper volume puncher, great pressure but sometimes less is more.

Hopkins Has evolved from an pressure Attacker with power into a Thinking sharp shooter............Sometimes he thinks Too much though

I'd probably say Joe . He delivers his punch with more speed and ferocity . Hopkins is gonna be mid 40s and Ive never seen him hurt a bigger man ( apart from when he got Tarver off balance .)

Joes hands have let him down but I think the extra weight will make Joe the puncher in this fight

Calzaghe isn't bigger than Hopkins? They're basically the same size, if anything B-Hop is slightly bigger/taller..

anyway, Hopkins definitely hits harder, and ICB made all the major points already really.. Calzaghe just has super fast hands that eventually wear you down..

I'd go out and say that PBF lb4lb hits harder than Calzaghe.. so for the 5 or 6 or however many people who voted for Calzaghe, i bet they'd say PBF doesn't have any power.. making all of those voters basically fans for Calzaghe, and voting with their heart as opposed to their head.

Calzaghe knocked down Eubank with a single left hook and Eubank was known for having a good chin. He dropped Mitchel witha left hook en route to stopping him in two rounds . Stopped another former champ in Woodhall these are all pretty big men . Which big men has Hopkins stopped ? All his best wins were over washed up blown up welterweights .

We'll see whos the bigger puncher when they meet im saying it'll be Joe .

Calzaghe knocked Eubank down yes but thats not the full story is it ?? Eubank was caught cold because he was floored in the first 20 seconds, plus he was moving backwards at the time so Calzaghe caught Eubank with jolting shot and Eubank went down because he was moving backwards at the time, in fact i would compare that to Hatton vs Collazo, Mitchell's chin is decent but his chin isn't good or great by any means, he was knocked down and was hurt many times against Manny Siaca, Woodhall's chin has always known to be very suspect. Just before his fight with Calzaghe he was floored 3 times by light hitting Markus Beyer.

Hopkins punchers harder. Calzaghe can't crack. I think Edwin Valero hits harder than Calzaghe

Has Hopkins ever stopped anyone above middleweight? NO

Has Calzaghe ever stopped anyone above middleweight? YES

Now factor in who exactly Hopkins has stopped - which EVERYONE knows is welterweights and substandard middleweight bums. Would Calzaghe have NOT stopped ALL of Hopkins stoppable oppostion? Of course he would. That's obvious.

There you go, that's unquestionable evidence.

    Calzaghe DEFINETLY hits harder. Fact.

"I came out of the corner for round one smiling," remembers Eubank.

"I was moving around and sizing up the terrain, when 'Boom!' Calzaghe hit me with a huge shot that literally came out of nowhere and knocked me down.

"A first-round knock-down had never happened to me in my entire career.

"As I picked myself up from the canvas and brushed myself down, I thought to myself: 'You've got your work cut out tonight, guy."

That just proves my point "It came out of nowhere" basically meaning he wasn't expecting it and it caught him by surprise. Eubank was caught on the back foot and he was caught cold because it was in the first 20 seconds of the fight. It was a good shot but it was nothing more than a jolting shot. Eubank laughed when he got up it was just the speed of the shot that shocked Eubank, because if i remember right Eubank charged at Calzaghe and they clinched for a second, then Calzaghe launched a left hand right out of the clinch while Eubank was moving backwards so Eubank's balance was not good at the time. Eubank was also floored by Steve Collins and Collins was not a big puncher either you don't have to be a big puncher if you catch someone by surprise and on the back foot or etc you can even floor iron chinned fighters like Eubank.

Actually for his size Floyd is a big puncher. Early on in his career he had the reputation of being a pure puncher but obviously his style has evolved as he's moved through the weight classes and his power has reduced relative to the bigger opponents he's facing.

The same thing happened with James Toney, that guy was a big puncher in the early part of his career but at heavyweight is regarded as a light puncher.

As for Calzahe a few years ago he was renowned as a knockout puncher, he'd breeze through guys. Now after years of hand injuries and also through being weak at the weight his punch power has reduced.

You have to remember that Joe was fighting at 168 lbs at 20 years old. Now at 35 his body composition will not be as good as you lose muscle mass and gain fat for every decade of your life past 18. At 175 I feel he will be renewed.

As for Hopkins I can't recall him ever KO'ing a legitimate 160lb contender let alone a 175 lb one.

In my opinion comparing the punch power of these two is like comparing the top speed of two tractors. It's largely irrlelevent as that isn't what their game is about.
