I give him credit, it takes an exceptional; physical specimen to rise to world title level in boxing.

He got messed up by Tua and prevented it from ever happening again. Even If it's not pretty it's effective. Like Cory Spinks. Like Bernard Hopkins. Like Ricky Hatton.

Yeah you're right, crazed fanbase and carnival atmosphere aside I actually find his fights just as interesting as Hattons.

Hatton to me is just Ruiz with masses of screaming fans to make a great atmosphere.

Watch him with the sound down and its snooze time

Well actually I was refering to their shared ability to kill a fights action and only awaken it when they feel the need to attack.

Hatton is a much more aggresive fighter and therefore attacks much more frequently.
When viewed together their records may look similar, Hatton having 31 Ko's from 43 fights, Ruiz 29 stoppages from 43 wins, but if you atch their fights it's pretty obvious that Hatton is a much more exciting, aggresive fighter.

Ricky's been fighter of the year, Ruiz would never be awarded that title.

ask john ruiz whats it like no longer working with long time friend and manager norm stoney and was his style based around his then trainers, was it the stlye most natruel to him or was it a case thats what would bring victory first and foremost.

i like ruiz, he's a solid, tough, proven heavyweight that no one likes to fight. also ask why he fell out with stoney, i always felt they made a great team

His former manager Norman Stone retired on December 22nd, 2005, stating that the decision in the loss to Valuev was the last straw, and he would continue to support Ruiz from retirement.

oh ok, i read somewhere that they'd fallen out, but thank you for pointing that out to me, i'm sure i even heard it during a ruiz fight sometime back last year.

i hope he wins a title again, john may not be a entertaining fighter but he's solid
