Cotto/ Mosley was a closely contested mini classic & I for one wouldn't mind seeing a return. I think Cotto being the younger warrior would repeat in another close battle.

Cotto needs to continue towards Mayweather, maybe take the Margarito/ Cintron winner while Floyd rematches DLH.

Cotto doesnt NEED Mayweather. It would be a terrific fight but from the numerous Cotto interviews I've read/seen recently,Miguel seems more intent on making himself a name, and that's the smart thing to do.He should make it so that people want to fight Miguel Cotto, and if he keeps winning, that is EXACTLY what will happen.

Marg made the mistake of waiting on Floyd,Cotto is not doing the same. Let Floyd keep ice skating/fake fight and lying about how much he's making/making rematches which just diminish, add ZERO to his legacy.Let Cotto take on the real challengers at WW and make a name for himself in an uber hot division.

As long as Cotto keeps winning, all roads at WW lead to him.

Good post but if Cotto wants to be considered the best he needs to fight Floyd. Mayweather is already considered the best fighter p4p. So in my opinion he NEEDS Floyd more than Floyd needs him.

In my previous post I was stating that Cotto needs to continue towards a Floyd fight instead of a Mosley rematch which is the title of this thread. I think in early 09 we'll get Cotto/ Mayweather which is the fight at 147 that everyone is wanting.

I disagree, they both need each other. Floyd needs to show he wnats to fight the best IN HIS OWN WEIGHT CLASS and Cotto needs to fight P4P number 1. Floyd hasn't fought a legit WW for over a year, and it'll be 2 by the end of this year. And after the Oscar rematch,Floyd will have no other big $$$ matches left other than Cotto(unless he seriously goes ahead with the shambles Hatton rematch)

I would rather see Cotto v Margarito or someone new, not go over old ground like Mayweather seems to do.

    I agree fully for now.

If Floyd really thinks he is no 1 he needs to meet Cotto or he will die never knowing and Champs dont often like to do that.

    I can feel it comming ...Cotto/Floyd ;
Correct timing doesnt only occur just in the ring the game exists out of it too and its not always just over money although thats the excuse we buy easier.
Safer to fight a fighter who has platoed or leved out for a while rather than one thats still comming on like a steam train.
We just have wait a while.

Floyd doesn't need to think anything. He is considered the consensus #1 p4p guy at the moment!

He'll fight Cotto when it suits him!

As for going over old ground in the other post; Mayweather has only ever fought 1 rematch that was with Castillo after a close fight when many thought Castillo deserved a rematch. DLH will be only his second rematch. The 1st fight although not very exciting was quite close IMO as I had Mayweather winning 115-114. I remember reading that many thought DLH had won & deserved a rematch. Now Floyd gives him one & gets criticized for it. I too feel Floyd & Cotto should be fighting but we'll all just have to wait! IMO DLH is a tougher assignment than Gomez is!!!

I disagree, if Floyd retired today he would leave as the #1 p4p guy... fact! Although I would love to see him face Cotto he doesn't necessarily need him. Floyd has already reached the top. Would it be better for his legacy? Yes, but theres always gonna be some guy that someone thinks has been ducked. Take Leonard/ Pryor for example.

A Mayweather retirement would not install Cotto as the #1 p4p guy, not even close! Guys like Pacquiao, JMM, Calzaghe would all still be ahead... so IMO I feel Cotto needs Mayweather more to prove his position, something Mayweather has already achieved!

But I still feel we'll get Mayweather/ Cotto in 09 then once Floyd has beaten Cotto it'll be interesting to see who he's ducking next
