I'm pretty sure he doesn't need the money. He's got business all seemingly going ok, his boxing gear sells well, his promotions are always packed (this fri night Sakio Bikka fights on Fenech Fight Night) and still has plenty of ritzy real estate. I think it's a case of too much money. He's looking for a challenge and like a lot of retired boxers still goes over in his head his losses and needs to try to avenge them somehow. Now I wonder if he'll ever fight Barry Michael as he calls him out every other week and every time he see's him apparently. People in the fight game here (well some, porb linked with Michael) reckon Fenech is scared of him.

Fenech probably wants to fight Nelson again now that hes almost 50.I doubt Nelson was the one pursuing this fight.

Why all the neagtive towards Jeff? Nelson is fighting too.

Anyway, if they wanna fight, let them fight. Golf has a seniors tour, so does Tennis, and i think surfing as well. As long as they arent risking their health just let them fight, dont watch if u dont like it. I would be against it if they turned up fat and unfit, but if they are well prepared and look reasonably sharp its ok.

Maybe there should be a seniors boxing organisation. They could fight 4 rounders. Atleast that way it could be monitored.

Then I could join. There is in amatures i think. It looks like Fenech is training hard and will be fit as he always is when he fights. I'll be watching. I guess the older guys are an easy target when they do this. You do make a good point though. It's not like he's fighting Mundine or someone else much younger, Nelson is a similar age so it won't be as though he's trying to show he's still as good as he was.

    With headgear?
Fenech looked cut in today's paper, he could go 4 rounds easily but i just hope Nelson at 49yrs is in good shape. A seniors tournament once a year might not be a bad idea for over 40's, then what do you do with Hopkins?

got to say i love old jeff fenech, he's a true charactor, the fight where he gets clocked by a right hand clean on the chin, drops like a sack of cement, his corner through in the towel and he trys while laying on the canvas to kick the towel back out......true warrior, he was magnifecint at close of the ring and punishing to the body and head..........and he was def robbed in the first nelson fight....................i dont like to see old warriors fight on so i'd prefer he stayed retired

I fell off my chair when I read this at work the other day...

Why they would allow this to happen is beyond me.

I hope it falls apart like the Iran Barkley fight a few months back...

Reports in the aussie media say that Fenech is training as hard as ever and has already lost 16kgs (about 35 pounds).

Yeah he's looking good. I suppose his promotion connections allows him to get this sanctioned somehow.
