I think he is waiting to see who wins the Hopkins/Calzaghe fight and challenge the winner. I know Hopkins says he will retire after this fight but a rematch with Jones would change his mind.

I thought that too, but wouldnt a fight in the meantime just to stay active be a good idea? He could fight a 'contender' that way he'd still be in the public eye, and he'd beat them easily. Im sure a Bika, Soliman or Codrington would jump at a fight with RJJ

Good point that Roy still relies on his speed and reflexes. He has made some adjustments. He keeps his hand higher and takes less chances. I just worry that if he fights a young strong fighter he will get kod again if he lays on the ropes. I dont think he will be fighting young fighters anymore though.

I agree with eagle that Jones should be staying active. It's all well & good waiting for the big fight to come up but age & rust will only hurt Jones come fight time IMO

with some fighters i would agree.. Jones lives an athletes life style . he keep himself proper year round. stays fresh in the gym .

then you have some go from 9 months on the couch to the training for a big fight. thems the ones gonna be flat and look shit for it.

His next opponent is probably one of the guys fighting this weekend or the Joe C. Vs. B-Hop winner. I can see him fighting the winner of Johnson V.s Dawson. I think he should try and fight Johnson and Tarver to try and even up the score, that would help his legacy to beat those two.

Sounds like a good idea. Trouble with Johnson or Dawson is that they dont have the drawing power that RJJ is probably after. He could fight Winky at 170, i think he'd win that fight. Mayorga would probably fight him at that weight too!
