It also sucks that I have 10-20 lbs against almost everyone I spar. The gym is just loaded with MW's and WW's, and I'm 180. I don't want to be perceived as beating up on little guys. F*@k that. They have speed, quickness, youth, and in many cases, more experience on me. Shame on them if they the a slow-footed 35yo catch them clean. Am I right?

I kno that sounds silly, but I know thats what I'm doing wrong. I'm naturally durable and I have an aptitude for body punching, so I need to practise that and get back into it.
That's one thing my coach is trying to get me to do. If I'm in with someone more experienced, I get too defensive and tend not to throw hard enough. I know exactly why I do it. I don't go my hardest because for all my faults and technical flaws, I hit pretty hard, I don't want to hit the better guy so hard that he decides to completely destroy me.

Two weeks ago I sparred one of the owners of Gym. He's primarily a Muay Thai guy, but he has boxing experience too. He's one of the few guys in the gym who has weight on me. I sparred conservatively, and as a result, I took the worse beat I've been given. He could have hit me more, but when he hit me, hit HIT me. I need to do that. Worry less about the other guy and when I have the chance to hit, hit hard.

My coach spend some good one-on-one time with me yesterday, and what you said about going forward and trying to hurt people is basically what he said to me. I'm not afraid to let my hands go against better people, but I so far I haven't gone hard enough. I've assumed that since they are better than me, I better pick my spots instead of trying to dictate my will on the better fighter. I need to change that. I have a good chin and power, and if I fight weak and worry about my inexperience and technical deficiencies, I'm toast.

Can relate to all you said!
    Every word!

Our gym spars hard and lately I've become too concious of the guys personality and not attacked him when he's vulnearable because I know him

I've just started sparring and love it, but can relate to the swollen shit. I have only sparred with professional fighters who to be fair have taken it easy with me - fair play to them.

I want to get better and am every time I train. I'd kind of like to spar with someone my own level now, because sparring pro fighters - well I'm happy if I hit them, I know they are a massive level above me, so it's more a learning curve for me.
