The rant was touching because no doubt he's been on the bad end of a lot of close/bullshit decisions in his career.

But despite what he thinks, he wasn't robbed IMO. Most people had Dawson winning 7-5 (thats what I had) and I have yet to see many people who feel Johnson won. It was a close compeditive fight, and Johnson fought like the warrior he is, but Dawson put too many of the early and mid rounds in the bank for him to steal it in the end IMO.

Still my heart goes out to Johnson, who is one of the classiest, toughest and hardest working guys in boxing. I really would have liked to see Johnson get some more time in the sun, but Dawson proved that he could take a punch and has heart.

Dawson was backing off or clinching when he was hurt, he cant go toe to toe without getting rocked.

He has a very negative style of boxing and the crowd were booing him all night long.

If anything i think this fight proved corruption in boxing, that was johnsons fight by a round, at best a draw.

Dawson never hurt johnson one bit, yet dawson was rocked on two occasions in that fight, once where i thought he was going down except managed to clinch and then back off.

Im not impressed with dawson at all, tarver will beat him, hopkins would cast him aside.

But im hoping calzaghe carries everything upto light heavy because i want to see calzaghe beat hopkins and then fae dawson.

I think if calzaghe carries upto supermiddle like the true champ he is (thats the test for calzaghe to prove), then he will school dawson.

Dawson has comparitiveyl poor power compared with the other top guys in the division and probably the worst chin out of the other top guys.

Not impressed, as soon as he fights a real quality opponent the guys going down.

I did feel bad for Glen, I mean hows he suppose accept that he lost if the fight was close?
But that's the way it went would he have won it would have been OK.
Fights like this where there are a couple of rounds that are close it all depends on what you saw in the rounds. I know there was 2 rounds on my card that could have gone either way. In the end as a judge you gotta trust your judegement and that you put a 10 next to the right name.

I agree with you 100% you feel bad for Johnson I mean how can you tell a guy he lost a close fight? I mean it was close that's why he feels he won.

You've obviously haven't been around here for all the rants about him having a glass chin and him being KO'd when he fights a puncher.
Well Glens a puncher and yes he was hurt but he never went down and he fought back. If BCD & Glens performance didn't bring you to your feet at one point or another then I don't know what will. When Glen hurt BCD, BCD fired back and didn't let off.

The follwing 2 statements let's me know how much you know about BCD and what you've seen of him.

Did you miss the 3, 4 punch combos he was putting together.
I think it was round 7 where he put a 4 punch combo with 2 shots upstairs and 2 down stairs. The crowd was booing cause BCD was countering and boxing the people that boo! are people who don't appreciate boxing skills and are there just to see a brawl. The people who appreciate it and know the sport saw how BCD was able to control Glen with his jab and then follow it with a right hand circle around and repeat. Also they didn't boo him all night long cause they did applaud in the early rounds which he won and also the middle rounds he won.

I have no problem with the fight being close cause it was Glen brought pressure in the end and closed out strong but it's 12 rounds that count not just the last ones.

If you knew about BCD you'd know he's not a brawler hes a boxer so what he did was smart and would he have traded punches he would have made a rookie mistake. You know the same kind of mistake that almost cost Pavlik his fight with Jermain when he thought it'd be a good idea to taunt Jermain.

Well then your not impressed and that's fine but don't cry about a close fight that could have gone either way and say Glen was robbed. I'll tell you like I've told others: A robbery is a fight where there is a CLEAR cut winner by 3, 4 rounds and it goes the other way.
That my man is a robbery. This fight between Glen and BCD was close. You yourself had it by 1 and also a Draw this tells me your not certain either. A few months back when the Tarver fight was 1st brought up I thought it was bad idea as BCD was more raw and really hadn't sat on a style now Eddie Mustafa has kept up the style and gives him the pointers needed. I think BCD is ready to give it a go vs. Tarver and I will be rooting for him if they fight.

I agree here with you, I think Joe would school BCD.
Guys like Hopkins & Joe are too seasoned for BCD right now.
I think it will boil down to how BCD performs against Tarver if BCD puts on a good performance then I expect him to fight the top guy.
One thing that people like yourself REALLY need to think about here is that BCD is ONLY 25.... Yes, 25 and the kids talented. If he can stay hungry and continue to improve then the skies the limit for him.

I'll repeat it BCD is not a puncher. Hes a boxer, he uses the ring generalship. I think last night he showed that he can take a punch he didn't go down yes he was rocked but he didn't go down and YES he showed heart when he fought back despite being hurt.

Can I ask what you consider Glen?
I think Glens a quality opponent and many people thought he'd take out BCD but he didn't BCD fought smart and boxed. He still has things he needs to improve on but the fact is he continues to win. Also Adamek was argueably #1 when BCD defeated him so thats 2 quality opponents there.

Look I can see the fight being closed and I can see he's not Mr. Punching power. But to say he's got no heart is ridiculous. THe kids talented and if you couldn't see that from last nights fight then I don't know what to tell you. With time we'll talk again about him and we'll see what you think of the kid then. For now class is dismissed.

Cutmemick, ive had a look at my post after you responded and i feel you made worthy arguments, infact i see what your saying totally and agree.

My initial post was tbh out of frustration i guess.

What im annoyed with is the way i see guys get bigged and hyped up when they are not experienced enough nor do they have the real quality to be considered great champs.

Examples of this are lacy and dawson and dare i say it, it seems kessler might be one of those guys to

Although i think kessler will come to fruit, albeit im annoyed that hes ducked miranda. There is no doubt dawson is a good boxer, infact hes a very good boxer. You are right, the fight with johnson was very even, it could have gone both ways, the 16,12 scorecard was a joke though, thats what im annoyed about.

I could see it going a round to johnson or dawson, but johnson seemed the stronger of the two fighters and definately did the most damage, without really taking any punishment.

This is the problem i feel with the 12 round system, the way it is scored round by round does not give justice or reflect the nature of the fight.

For instance a fighter can draw 8 rounds, but the judges are so reluctant to give drawn rounds that they might give it to that fighter because he is the home favourite...then for 4 of the remaining rounds that fighter could get totally whipped, put on the floor twice and just stagger through till the end...yet the fighter who managed to 'win' the drawn rounds (because the judges v seldom give drawn rounds even if it is an extremely close round) will end up winning the fight despite being battered all over the place.

So in this fight i thought you had some drawn rounds, they obviously gave these rounds to dawson. You also had johnson totally dominate dawson in 3 of the rounds...this leads me to give the fight a draw or a win to johnson by 1 round.

Anyway, i guess im being too hard on chad, he went the distance and shows he has good skills against a very tough opponent. It doesnt matter who they give it to i guess, the true winner is the person who the crowd and audience believe is the better fighter. Id have to say that i think johnson is a better fighter than dawson from what i saw tbh.

Hopkins or calzaghe on dawson and i cant see dawson having much of a chance though.

This fight has made me see though that hopkins is a cut above the other light heavies out there tbh. If calzaghe beats hopkins then i presume hopkins will retire.

So aside from jones and pavlik, calzaghe (if he beats hopkins) could also fight tarver and dawson.

I just cant see dawson being given a match up against calzaghe with that performance against johnson though. Tarver dominated against woods and showed he is still a class fighter, although he was shown up by bhop...which makes me think that if calzaghe is as good at light heavy as he is at super middle and he beats hopkins, then is there really any point in fighting the winner of tarver vs dawson (most probably tarver i think) seeing as bhop already cast tarver aside? Meaning a calzaghe vs pavlik fight is the only forseeable and credible fight left for calzaghe if he beats bhop. Then maybe a last matchup against roy jones, i think this would be interesting afterall its the matchup that shouldve happened 8 or so years back but never happened. Id like to watch that personally, although i think calzaghe would win and jones is not at his peak, it would still be good for old times sake. To finally get to see probably the two greatest boxers of the middle/supermiddle/light heavy divisions of the last 20 years against each other in their last fights...it would be a fitting end to both calzaghe and jones' careers regardless of the outcome.
