the thing that really impressed me with cotto last night is the way rather than going hell for leather and rolling over gomez as many expected him to he took his time picked his shots and looking amazing in doing so
this alone convinces me he beats floyd , if he landed one of those clean little combos per round hed soon sap pbf's power and slow down those little dancing feet of his

Cotto has been patience in the past thats nothing different, check out his fight against Victoriano Sosa who went 12 rounds with Mayweather. Cotto slowly took him apart as well.

But lets remember here the punches that landed on Gomez a majority of them punches wouldn't land on Mayweather. And lets remember this is Gomez here who is a mediocre fighter at best, but im glad so many people think Cotto will beat Mayweather, so when Mayweather beats Cotto that will make his win look even more impressive.

ye that goes without saying that mayweather and gomez are a gulf apart in terms of ability

    however....

mayweather is not impossible to hit, judah had him down (although it wasnt given as a knock down when it should have been) de la hoya caught him flush at times , and hatton also wobbled him early on and i just feel that cotto would be able to really capitalise in a way that none of those fighters managed to

Judah is much faster than Cotto though, even Judah wobbled Cotto a few times with his extremely quick hands. ODLH never really caught Mayweather flush i don't think anyway. And plus ODLH was throwing in bunches and bunches something Cotto doesn't do too often IMO, Hatton caught Mayweather off balance i don't think Mayweather was wobbled, but all these opponents have something in common they were all outclassed mate

I think Cotto's timing is awesome and timing beats speed every day of the week!

Floyd has great defense and that's great for protecting his head and body but Miguel Cotto doesn't care WHERE he hits you only THAT he hits you.

I want to see Floyd battered and bruised and totally beaten as a fighter..."Am I cut?!?! Am I bleeding?!?!?!" Floyd will be hoping he can mumble those words past the broken jaw he'll have if this fight ever happens!

Miguel Cotto will do the world a favor and have Floyd's jaw wired shut FINALLY!

Seriously cotto hurts guys, floyd is no exception. Now i know why floyd is seriously avoiding fights against margarito and cotto. Theres a huge risk of him geting battered and embarrased. Yes i know kermit or gomez is not floyd but still. these guys are monsters at welterweight.
Now you believe and now you know why Floyd calls him Bob Scare'Um.
Because Floyd is afraid of Bobbies boys.

Now we have Cotto vs Margarito.
(Where is Majesty?) I told you this fight would happen.

Floyd will not be able to duck the winner of that fight but he will find a way and he will most likely say he is retired or that he wants to go take showers with The Big Show, Leonard Ellerbe and Triple H.

I don't think Cotto even trained for Gomez.
Hey Danny you know what? you are certainly right , Cotto are been and still training for the next fight , and others new skills......

Maybe but you have to take into account the good possibility of Floyd having a trilogy with ODLH/rematching Hatton. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

That was easy pickings for Cotto. I loved that look he gave Gomez after round 1, because he never does that, but I think that was his way of letting Gomez know that he has him. Classic!

I give credit to Gomez for stepping into the ring with him, but Gomez also needed to be humbled, and Cotto did it with ease!!!

I'm going to have to add him to the Miguel Cotto Art Gallery.
    Uuccmmm
    (Fixes voice)

Diane, don't want this to come across as egotistical or in a bad way but long before you and Danny arrived I've been preaching the Cotto Gospel.
Wish you could have witnessed the things that were said about Cotto then you would be on the floor laughing.

From him being one dimensional, to him not ever accomplishing much, that he would have no room to improve because of the talent that was around at 140 and up... and yadda! yadda! yadda!

I love and gloath on the fact that the way older people talk about how they saw Ali through his career, SRL, Hagler, Duran etc. etc. I can now boost and say I've got my own set of fighters I've followed from the start and or early in their careers.

Cottos my generations Duran, my generations Gomez, my generations Napoles.
Well don't think that I am just a recent fan of Cotto's, just because I'm new here, because I have been following him for a long time myself.

Actually, just ask Danny who turned him onto Cotto.
Oh! certainly, I'd imagine prior to your arrival here you knew who he was.
Welcome aboard the Cotto Express Diane stretch your feet out and enoy the room here. El Gamo is also a Cotto fan but like me he is also a Margarito fan.
Diane, I can't stop reading over and over peoples lines about Gomez surprising Cotto and Gomez wining rounds and Gomez taking Cotto to the distance or late rounds. There is NO single doubt in my mind that Cotto could have gotten Gomez out in 1 round but Cotto let off and took his time. He was cautious and took his time. The bad part about this is that now 2 of my favorite fighters might fight eachother next. Late 2006 when the fight was mentioned by Arum in the post fight interview on the double header they had where Cotto fought Carlos and Tony fough Clottey I was made by El Gamo to choose a side and I went with Cotto he and I have been set up to bet if the fight comes through. As I've said before Cottos more skilled then Margarito and hes a better boxer he can trade and he can box and I expect that to the difference. El Gamo feels that Margaritos pressure style with lots of punches will be the key to victory. You a Margarito fan? I know Danny is.

I've heard this saying on this board more than once..

"To be the best, you have to FIGHT the best"...

Someone f'n drop Floyd off the number 1 P4P spot... How long is he going to be there? Until he's 80? As long as he fights DLH once a year? Sure no one has beaten him yet.. But while there are genuine contenders, and he completely ignores them to take "Money" fights, then he doesn't deserve to hold the number 1 ranking....

Others may argue a different point, but if a figher genuinally does not want to fight any of his main competition, that is arguably enough for me to drop them down on my P4P list.. I respect other peoples reasons for keeping him their though.. But you don't become a champion, then protect your championess by avoiding all the fighters that might knock you off your pedestal... At this rate, he can't be there forever.

I for one dont really about mayweather-cotto, we have had tons of great fights already in 08. let Floyd do what he want what matters is the quality of the fight not who is fighting. I mean cotto-margo is going to be a lot more intresting and action packed. We have tons of other good fights in boxing in the other divisions so people should get there fill with those fights

And as for P4P lists, they really dont mean anything its just a list of someones opinion

Ohh yeah..... Let PBF stop running from Cotto and let the fight be scheduled.

Cotto by late stoppage for me.

Whoever speculates what would happen in Cotto-Floyd, based on last nights fight needs to rethink what they know about boxing.

I saw the Post fight interview at another site and Gomez looks like Hell Boy with the Cut horns
