Taeth, I totally agree. You actually beat me to the Baldomir comparison. Floyd would almost pitch a shutout against Tony. I can't see Tony winning more than 2-3 rounds if any.

Margarito is clearly a better fighter than Baldomir. But I still don't see him winning more than a couple rounds against Floyd.
Floyd would beat Margarito imo. But it would be his toughest fight.
And Marg would wreck this Shane Mosley. No doubt about that in my mind.I've said that for a while. Mosley wouldn't outbox Tony.Nor does he have a good jab. He'd use his handspeed, realise t's not enough and get outworked and outhustled.
As for using Clottey v TOny as an example. It's silly. Tony went into the fight with a wrist injury and an ankle injury, ergo the arm punches. He couldn't use his fulll force.Mayweather fights NOTHING like Clottey. Clottey stood there and banged with Tony, countered. That's like saying Tony beat Cintron so now he can beat Mayweather. It's dumb.
And people use the analogy that so and so is faster than Marg but it's dumb because EVERYONE is faster than Tony. Hasn't stopped him beating them though has it? Also, who gave Floyd his toughest fight? Was it Judah or Oscar?NO.It was the considerably slower JLC.
With regards to Tony's losses.Do some research:go check Boxrec and see how old he was before you open your mouth.![]()

These threads are stupid as hell. Here's an idea... How about they fight sometime so we can ACTUALLY see what happens.

there's no point saying margarito can't do this or that when mayweather hasn't proved that by actually fighting him
Array
Margarito has a granite chin and a stoney mentality.
He is the type of fighter that brings credability to a division as in order to beat him a fighter must be extremely skilled or of greater determination.
In fighting Mayweather we must remeber Margarito would avail of a huge advantage in reach height and physicality.
In order to compete with Mayweather, margarito would have to expend a lot of energy in movement, an area he lacked ion in fights such as williams and Cintron, but with his mentality he could stick to the job and although I don't see him beating Mayweather I see him presenting a tough fight.

Won't ever happen unfortunately, unless Margarito flukes a KO, then Floyd will jump at the chance, like he did Baldomir.

Can't see Floyd losing to Margarito either, but can see Margarito being a pain in the ass fight for him, and one where Floyd would really need to utilize his mobility, especially his lateral movement, because Margarito will keep coming,
It would also be about angles for Floyd too, stopping Margarito from getting set, so as to keep him moving and keeping him off balance...

A lot of boxing promoters couldn't match the cheeks of their buttocks. Mickey Duff..
I dont see how Margarito would be causing problems for Mayweather because he wouldn't be able to catch Mayweather, like I said before people thought Baldomir would give Mayweather a really tough fight because of his mentality and granite chin, but Mayweather drained that determination right out of Baldomir. Margarito isn't really better than baldomir. He hasn't foughten really good boxers who can move, and anyone who used movement against him has given Margarito a ton of problems.

Baldomir is 5'7" tall. Margarito is 5'11" tall.
That changes the intangibles completely around. You cannot compare Margarito to Baldomir, they are completely different beasts. Floyd's stick and move tactics would be more dangerous, as his window within Tony's punching range would be extended in order to get his own shots off.
Also Baldomir has no power compared to Margarito.
They are not even comparable.

The same shit would be said about Ray Robinson or Henry Armstrong if they were still around in their primes...
Robinson can't touch Mayweather....I watched Armstrong defend all three world titles in all three different divisions in one night and Mayweather would not even have to show up to beat him....Blah Blah Blah...
It is never a post that states.."In my opinion"...Just always supposed to be fact.....If Robinson was around in his prime today it would be
"Robinson would not even be able to land a jab on Floyd, He told me so while I was in line behind Jay Nady waiting my turn to service him"...
Or if Hank Armstrong was around it would be...
"I watched Armstrong defend all three titles in all three divisions in one night against the top contenders and after watching the fights I know if he faced PBF he would look like nothing more then a club fighter".....
Get off the Floyd bandwagon....Funny thing is the guys who make these comments about Floyd like he is some kind of freaking God...Make just about ZERO...threads or relative post about anyone else in boxing period no matter who they are fighting....
IN MY OPINION!!!!!.......It shows limited knowledge on the sport.
Here is a legit question why has PBF not faced a prime opponent outside a much smaller Hatton in almost 6+ years?...C'Mon give the bullshit excuses and give the old story on how brave he was to fight DLH at 154
......You fellows embaress yourself with these threads and don't even know it....
Lates see Floyds last opps..
DLH- Has beaten Mayorga and Yori Boy in the last 5 years and thats it...Everyone knows he lost to Sturm
Baldomir- Enough said
Judah- Just came off a loss and has not been worth his salt since Tszyu kicked his ass
Gatti- Arturo was shot and everyone knows it
Mitchell-
Bruseles-
After a while you have to ask yourself..."Is he really performing that good or is it who he is going against that makes him look that good".....
Floyd is a damn good fighter do not get me wrong but people get a bit out of control when it comes to praising his skills...
I am starting to believe that he really is ducking Cotto and any other brutal puncher out there

Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
I am not saying he's better or worse, I am saying is they are both limited athletically, and thats why they would never beat Mayweather.
WHo cares if Margarito is 5'11, Thats how tall Oscar is, and he can't land on MAyweather, thats how tall Diego COrrales was, look how that fight turned out. THats how tall Phillip N'Dou was, and that was another easy fight for Mayweather.... Mayweather likes fighting taller opponents, especially because in order for them to take advantage of their height they have to be good technical boxers which Margarito isn't, they need a good jab which Margarito doesn't have, and they also need to stand up straight which really slows down their footspeed, and as if Margarito needs to lose anymore footspeed when he is trying to catch Mayweather.
I don't hate Margarito, I could care less about him, what I do hate is how a site with relatively well versed posters in boxing are dry humping this limited fighter who hasn't really beaten any valid opponents. He has trouble with the type of boxer Mayweather is, and there have been at least ten more deserving guys to fight Mayweather than him. Regardless of MAyweather I hope Cotto can handle Marg's punch because if he can COtto will destroy this buffoon.
I agree with most of what Taeth wrote. However, there is no way that Floyd can physically stop Margarito from coming forward. And it's not like Floyd dances around the ring. He likes to hang on the ropes and dodge punches as opposed to "float like a butterfly." Floyd will NOT KO Margarito-NEVER!! Margarito will test Floyd's stamina (not to say Floyd doesn't have good stamina). Margarito is physically superior to ANYONE Floyd has ever fought. I believe Margarito has a better chance than Hatton or Baldomir ever had. Still, I am not saying Margarito will win. Just that it will be a PHYSICAL test, the likes of which Floyd has NEVER experienced.
