My mate smashed his drill sargant in the face while on parade ,another mate of ours who was there said the seargant always picked on a weaker fellow who had to let him get away with it and when the seargenat came up in front of Stafford (who can hit like a mule) ; he just smashed his nose into his face, went awol immediatley rode his motor bike interstate and never got caught up with.The seargants head was black and blue for month.
His mum recieved a letter some twenty years later saying they were no longer looking for him.
