Umm no way why don't you stop copying a pasting and actually watch the fight again instead of relying on punch stats which are inaccurate. Calzaghe never landed that many power punches, most of his punches were slapping punches when he threw combinations, he did land some solid left hands but no way did he land that many power punches.
I agree, there is no way Joe landed that many "power punches" I've always wondered what the punchstat counts as a power punch. Joe landed a lot of punches, but let's face it, they aren't solid punches he's landing. A lot are arm punches and some slaps.
I've never been a big fan of punchstat. That tool Jim Lampley can't get enough of it.
Could you point me to these alleged rounds were Hopkins amased his power punches then because from my recolaction I count them in one hand..
Im not saying Hopkins landed loads of power punches, my point was yes Calzaghe did out land Hopkins but he didn't land that many power punches nowhere near it. When Hopkins landed most of his punches were solid power punches IMO. I would pick 10 solid shots in a round rather than 25 pitter patter punches.
Calzaghe won, end of story.
Sure I'm an American, I've never been sold on fighters who don't travel outside their home countries (bar RJJ he had reasons The Olympics and McClellan) but to be a WORLD CHAMPION you must show the WORLD what you can do and Joe fought Hopkins' style for a couple rounds and then did what he was supposed to sped up the fight, upped the punch output, and stalked Hopkins down.
Sure Hopkins fought dirty....this is a new thing for some of you peopleHopkins is like a smaller meaner Evander Holyfield, he's a great fighter but GOD is it an ugly style to watch! And to beat him you have to be able to win an ugly fight, it's never going to change whether B-Hop is 20-30- or 50 years old.
Give BOTH fighters their credit Joe came to America and took the fight to Hopkins, Bernard is 43 years old and able to compete with younger fighters still in their primes.
