I think it was basically to be expected that Joe would win a very close fight which he wouldn't look good in. Hopkins is just too old to throw a lot of solid punches as the fight progresses. Though Calzaghe edged it imo, and I picked him to win, not that it matters.. The people saying he was going to dominate Hopkins should feel stupid. Nobody dominates Hopkins and Calzaghe certainly didn't have the style to do so.
I'll do my scorecard later but i felt Hopkins won more rounds than that.
I'lll show mine as well, but Hopkins was getting the better of the fight for the first 6 rounds not four, and he won a couple of rounds down the stretch. I had him up 4-2 in the first 6 rounds then I had him winning two rounds down the stretch.

I think his fight gives Roy Jones a good blueprint of how to fight Calzaghe but I am not sure Roy can jump in and out the way he used to....infact I am certain he won't be able to do it.
If RJJ was in his prime hell yeah I think he could beat the Calzaghe that fought last night

I don't think you need to fight in and out against Calzaghe, you just need to force him to come to you, and have the timing to counter him, Calzaghe comes in sometimes with ridiculous hooks that a faster fighter like Roy, even at his old age, should be able to counter, but I don't doubt he will be quick enough of foot to create the distance in order to make a fight with Calzaghe a chess match, but if he does he definitely wins IMO, just like I feel a young B-Hop I could easily see winning almost every round against Calzaghe, not because Calzaghe is ridiculously outclassed, but because he isn't a great fighter coming forward.
I'll have to watch it again, but one of those rounds you mentioned were quite clearly for Calzaghe, I just don't agree... throwing missing punches does nothing for me unless B-Hop didn't throw anything. B-Hop was finding it much easier to land, I think Compubox was up their ass thinking Bernard didn't land a higher percentage of the punches he threw than Calzaghe let alone Calzaghe landing over 1/3 the punches he threw... I don't even see him landing 1/5th the punches he threw.
You cant argue with the FACTS! You obviously watched the fight from a tainted perspective.
Face it, most the people who say hopkins shoulda won are the same people who call him slappy, weak, brawler, etc etc. Im not saying this is you but you are making the same statements as that crowd.
LOOK AT ROUNDS 4-12, look how calzaghe outlands hopkins and isnt hurt at all, look in round 10 HOW CALZAGHE ROCKS HOPKINS AND HES ABOUT TO GO DOWN BUT CLINCHES!!!!!
Why do people consistantly say that hopkins threw better punches, hopkins threw the best punch of the fight, calzaghe the second best punch of the fight when he rocked hopkins, PEOPLE ARE BLIND IF THEY CANT SEE THIS, LOOK AT ROUND 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE FACTS:
Total thrown (Hopkins/Calzaghe): 468/707
Total landed: 127/232
Percentage landed: 27/33
Jabs thrown: 93/224
Jabs landed: 11/45
Percentage landed: 12/20
Power punches thrown: 375/483
Power punches landed: 116/187
Percentage landed: 31/39
Calzaghe LANDED 81 more power punches than hopkins did...that is a FACT!
How can people say he landed more cleaner better punches when the facts clearly state that calzaghe landed more power punches on hopkins. Please mate, watch the fight again with an open mind and appreciate the way calzaghe adapts and takes down the whily fox!
