Yes the 3rd game was great. They had the best environments, and the battle with The End like you are talking about is classic. Little easter egg here, the first time you see The End, in the cutscene where you are at the first facility at the back on the hill and The End is rolled out on the wheel chair, you can break the cut scene, pull out your sniper rifle and kill him right there. Then you have to fight Ocelot guards in the jungle.
Also the battle with the Boss, and that one twisted you a bit emotionally because you see just why Big Boss turned against the US government and it was for their treatment of the Boss. A real gut punch that was.
Great game, the second was my favorite though.
I also know of a couple easter eggs with the end. One is you could go west to a little storage building at the start of the battle and his parrot would be there and you kill his parrot and he would say something about it. I think the whole game was littered with multiple easter eggs and other secrets, which made it even more absorbing.
The second one was with vamp and Raiden right? I think I read that Raiden is going to be in the upcoming mgs.
I love all of that conspiracy stuff with the government and arms companies. And Snake eater had this retro 1960s James Bond+Rambo thing going for it too. Everything, right down to the he psychedelic camo screen at the start to the close-quarters combat, to the story line and powerful ending was done with such intention and style that the game was like a work of art
