I'm thinking about getting a vaporizer now that I'm old and worried about harming my lungs etc., does anyone have any experience with them? They supposedly don't produce much smell either, which is a bonus.

yes i have a vaporizer it is awsome.

they produce barely any smoke and they are way better for you then smoking a doob.
ruins the taste though it makes all pot taste like burnt peanuts.

I bought a vaporizer a few years ago for similar reasons.

Anyways, I got one of the cheap ones off off ebay, I think it was called "Vapor King" or something like that. They are common, little box units with a hose. DO NOT GET ONE OF THESE! I spent about $100 on mine and it was such a pain in the ass to use I was back to smoking after a few days time. Finally was cleaning out and just tossed the whole unit away.

A friend of mine (and also my dealer) has a volcano and although they are expensive if I had to do it all over again it's what I would have got! You can really TASTE the herb. I will be able to tell if what I am smoking is diesel, kush, or some other the other common good varieties even without seeing or smelling it before hand!

"Northern Diesel" a hybrid between Northern Lights and East Coast Sour Diesel. Hits hard and is kind of paranoid trippy until making me incredible groggy.

But it does cause Schophrenia in some people I hope your not one of them.
Never did with me but I've seen so many cases around me .Suicides ,mental hospitals,years of disorders managable but untreatable.
One mate who is also about 50 has been on anti depressant pills since his twenties and used to winge aboout his disorder all the time.
He used togo right off the dep end the cops would find him walking the streets naked and all sorts of things.
I bit the bullet and said to him stop blaming any outside sources on being that way. Gunja is your problem your addicted to the whole deal and if you stop it in its tracks you will get better on your own,do something for fuckin self!
About a year later I saw him and he hadnt had medication or one of his turns again and was drug free.

Smoking Gunja steals your time away from you,when you give it up and become addicted to being straight you wonder why you wasted so much time , energy and money on just being numb. Some friends that you thought were real turn out to be false cause they only put up with you becuase you back up their own lifesyle. As soon as you cease it they dont want to know your ass any more. Which is perfect cause that creates space for real friends to move in.
The reverse lifstyle is just as addictive once you cross the boarderline and stand your ground.

Well it's like anything, you have to take it in moderation. It's the same as drinking, prescription drugs and all things of that sort. There was about a month period a while back where I just wasn't sober. I was constantly high from the moment I woke up, if you use the sliding scale of sobriety, in that entire month I never once was not high. Would wake up in the morning with my pipe right by my bed in my drawer, get my doob tube and my weed and start off my day smoking in bed. It was summer so it wasn't to bad and I still wouldn't call it an addiction but it got to the point where I had absolutely no clarity. And that was when I realized I should probably cut down. That was a year ago and now I just think it was stupid because I was smoking excessively when I didn't need to. When I finally got that sober moment, I remember it quite clearly, it was just a feeling of clarity. And I'm usually good about making decisions in that moment of clarity.

When used in moderation, I personally find it a better alternative to pain meds or antidepressants for older people. Prescription drugs are America's real drug problem. I wish some of aunts and uncles could be prescribed marijuana instead of antipsychotics but thats not the world we live in unfortunately.

Also, if your looking for less smoke, try using a glass chillum. In my experience, it's a lot easier to smoke and it's not near as harsh. I don't light the bud directly I light the glass like a crack pipe and it works well. Vaporizers are very expensive to be worth your time, they waste weed and like someone above said, it makes the taste awful.

BC? I imagine not to much is being grown outdoor in BC. Anybody can grow good indoor but sorry Humboldt county is about 30 minutes North of here and that is world reknown as some of the best in the world.

You need to eat it instead. If you do it correctly one ounce of quality bud can get you very stoned indeed one hundred times for four to five hours a time.

The weirdest names for weed these days, I had some stuff called tuxedo timewarp, wtf? Alaskan Thunderf***, purple creeper, trainwreck, whitewidow....I just call it indo. Give me some good old skunky bud, I love the smell

its called Texeda Timewarp and its supposedly grown on Texeda Island which is close to Vancouver Island. I've never came across it myself and I live just a short ferry ride from there and its supposed to be one of the best outdoor strains in the world.

In my experience there is very little outdoor grown around here, and the stuff I have had has been shit. The only reason the weed around here is so good is that there is so much competition. I'm sure you can get weed of equal quality almost everywhere else. I would imagine the accessibility and the frequency with which it was availible would be the difference. Here, if you don't like the stuff you're getting from one guy, you can get in contact with several other dealers almost immediately, so it forces most of the people who sell it to have good stuff. It's a multi-billion ollar buisness here and literally hundreds of thousands of people are involved in the industry.

I've never really liked eating it, I find it too hard to regulate/control. I've thought about learning how to cook it, but now that I only like having a few tokes at a time it seems like it would be even harder to regulate. I just don't want to damage my lungs so I thought I'd get a vaporizer.

You can regulate exactly how stoned you want to get when you eat it. BTW I got it wrong before. You can get heavily stoned 120 times for 4-5 hours a time from one ounce of bud.

going to make you all jealous now: Years ago we had a house that a dealer would come and use to bag up garbage bins 3 at a time into oz's .
Bins of thai buddah sticks too sometimes.
Once he came with 3 plastic containers full of hash oil.The containers were the old plastic paint ones that you used to get at schools for bulk paint, about 4 litres each one! He sat there for a whole week and capped the lot up on his own. Gave us the empty jars that were just covered in oil to scrap off.we got a pack of malbrough and made a wet mix out of a tablespoon of oil into the whole pack and blew it in a chillum between four of us thats about 2 caps plus each in one toke. 1974. we used to get pure lsd the famous british clear light ,solid acid cylinders and brown pyramyds both were straight 8 hours with about 6 rises each peaking stronger than the last for 6 hours and then down you come for a couple. Blotting paper liquid stuff didnt come out for about ten years ,diferrent drug completly.
