'Twas always thus in boxing ...... we build up a big fight, then think of excuses when the outcome does not match our preconception, then its the next big fight that counts.

Fighters are best appreciated after they retire.

We are saying the same things about Pvlik that we all said about lacy and Kessler - he's a machine, he hits too hard, Calzaghe has never faced anyone like this etc etc.

Pavlik can be outboxed and he can be hit. I think Calzaghe is too slick to me outboxed these days, and he has shown he has a very good chin. Calzaghe can adapt in the middle of a fight and he has not really shown any huge weaknesses - he is a pretty complete fighter compared to many around at the moment. I think Pavlik can be predictable and robotic and he is not sneaky enough to win this one (unless he strikes it lucky with a big bomb at some point)

Joe boxes Pavlik's head off all night. Pavlik doesn't have the power at 168 that he does at 160 and comes in in straight lines. He's made for Joe and it'd be another Jeff Lacy fight. The only question that fight would answer is how hard is Pavlik's head.

I guarantee you he has power at 168. Why wouldn't he? You think he suddenly lost it in the second Taylor Fight or just maybe, Taylor approached the fight a lot differently then the first fight?

Pavlik has fought guys with vastly different styles and has found a way to beat them in dramatic fashion practically every time.

So many try to write him off as limited, but he is the real deal. Sure he has some limitations, as does every fighter, but so many try to make him seem like an amateur

Well put Dean.. Taylor fought a COMPLETELY different fight the second time they met.. He was 100% more defensive, so to say that Pavlik won't have power at 168 is a joke..

He doesn't have any more power then Kessler does and he's never fought anybody at Calzaghe's level. We heard the same stuff about Jeff Lacy too. Pavlik really wouldn't stand a chance against Joe.

You are absolutely devoid of information if you think you can compare Lacy to Pavlik. LET ME SET THIS STRAIGHT...

Lacy got a quick shot at the title after being favored by major networks. He got ahead quickly with a crude style that favored brutal KO's. He was frustrated many times in fights, and has had more than one stopped prematurely in his favor (i.e. S. Vanderpool). He was destined to be exposed--sooner than later.

Pavlik has been on the GRINDER, fighting everyone who came his way. He has polished his style on the faces of his opponents, now getting 80+ punches a round and just got his first decision in FOUR YEARS. Every fighter he faces is a different person after they meet--broken. Tell me I am lying.

Pavlik v. Calzaghe is the enthusiasts' wet dream, but RJJ is the only fight for JC right now. He deserves the huge money it will generate

    vs. Tarver-- you're kidding, right?
vs. Chad Dawson--overwhelmed by the vet
vs. Glen Johnson--grueling, but similar to fight v. Bika
    vs. Taylor--WHY For $$$ only

that puts him to 50-0, and he can retire a true #1 P4P legend!

Kessler is a textbook guy, looks great on paper. I said this in another thread. Kessler fights like a guy who was trained to be a fighter. Pavlik is a fighter. Pavlik has 5X the meanness and intensity level of Kessler in the ring.

People call Pavlik robotic, but lets look it the truth. It is kessler who sat there round by round, doing the exact same thing against joe, afraid to devoid himself from his gameplan even though he was getting out worked plain and simple. He had no plan B, he follows textbook boxing rules and does not know or refuses to grit down.

Pavlik can square up in the middle of the ring also and jab, bomb with straight rights. If it does not work he can toss you into the rope and rip the shit out of you.

I tell you all right now. Kessler is over-rated by so many. He lacks in the intangibles in my book. He looks pretty in there, but he does not have the fire in his belly. Heart and desire will carry you in this game. If you lack that spark in any way, you are vulnerable.

Joe has that spark. Pavlik also has that spark.

Calzaghe's best win was against Kessler, a rematch would be nice but i doubt Joe goes there again, he will fight Jones next and i give RJJ a real chance against a sluggish Joe Calzaghe. I'm not won over yet!

Joe beats Pavlik like a gong and then Pavlik becomes the new Jeff Lacy.

I take nothing from Joe but we all seen how quickly when asked about Pavlik or Jones he jumped to RJJ. He got a big record but Lacy is no legend Hopkins may be but thats just it He's ancient as is RJJ. Step up and fight the best America really has to offer which is Pavlik. Joe and Enzio will be watching closely when pavlik destroys his buddy Lockett. If that punch from Hopkins put him down then wowww he'll end up looking like glass joe from tyson's punchout when Kelly touches him.
