Yeah B-Hop didn't know if it was ok for him to hit a girl so he held back. B-Hop was right though he never lost to a whiteboy.

I am not a fan of Calzaghe's, but I don't dislike him. I was happy when he beat Hokpins.

But he does swing like a girl at times...looks especially bad when he misses! I remember they showed a slow motion replay during the fight of Calzaghe missing with a bunch of goofy looking..."punches" even think he threw a backhanded slap in there which also missed lol.

But when you watch the lacy fight those same punches look phenomenal. I think calzaghe looked especially sloppy because hopkins is a cagey old bastard.

this is what makes me laugh when i hear people say calzaghes a very skillfull boxer, i kept hearing how b-hops never fought someone with joes skills.................he doesn't light a single lightbulb with skill, he doesn't really have such great skill, he's about high workrate and handspeed not much boxing skill, he slaps alot or cuffs.........fair enough he wins fights that way but.............. he aint no, james toney, roy jones, bernard hopkins, money mayweather when it comes down to skill

He had to change his style years ago to allow for his bad hands. He can't throw power punches anymore yet he's still beaten three world champions who were all fancied to beat him. The fact he did it being as limited offensively as he is now makes him even more great.

I've made it clear, even though I'm a fan of joe's, that I wasn't impressed with his performance on Saturday. However the slappy ineffective punches are a recent thing about last four years, before that he threw combinations at the same speed but could rock is opponents from side to side with them, it's combination of bad hands and age which has diminshed them, not poor technical ability. The danger with getting reputation at the tail end of your career is that you get remembered for the wrong things, Joe will get remembered for being a slapper, and Hop will be remembered for being a spoiler,. which wasn't necesarily the case in their primes.

As for comparing skills to the likes of the others, it's matter of different styles. Do you really think Mayweather or Hopkins himself would look any better coming forward against Hopkins Two primarily backfoot fighters. Then you compare Hopkins last weekend to how effective Joe was against come forward fighters Different styles suit different fights, and their are many fights out there where JC's style would be more effective than the styles of the fighters in your list, and vice versa. Hopkins style this late in his career is particularly effective against southpaws since the lead arms are on the same side making clinching inside a doddle, he also has an unconventional right lead which hits the southpaw fighter square, however poor Calzaghe's performance was, he was never going to look good anyway.
