You are absolutely devoid of information if you think you can compare Lacy to Pavlik. LET ME SET THIS STRAIGHT...
Lacy got a quick shot at the title after being favored by major networks. He got ahead quickly with a crude style that favored brutal KO's. He was frustrated many times in fights, and has had more than one stopped prematurely in his favor (i.e. S. Vanderpool). He was destined to be exposed--sooner than later.
Pavlik has been on the GRINDER, fighting everyone who came his way. He has polished his style on the faces of his opponents, now getting 80+ punches a round and just got his first decision in FOUR YEARS. Every fighter he faces is a different person after they meet--broken. Tell me I am lying.
Pavlik v. Calzaghe is the enthusiasts' wet dream, but RJJ is the only fight for JC right now. He deserves the huge money it will generate
vs. Tarver-- you're kidding, right?
vs. Chad Dawson--overwhelmed by the vet
vs. Glen Johnson--grueling, but similar to fight v. Bika
vs. Taylor--WHYFor $$$ only
that puts him to 50-0, and he can retire a true #1 P4P legend!

Kessler is a textbook guy, looks great on paper. I said this in another thread. Kessler fights like a guy who was trained to be a fighter. Pavlik is a fighter. Pavlik has 5X the meanness and intensity level of Kessler in the ring.
People call Pavlik robotic, but lets look it the truth. It is kessler who sat there round by round, doing the exact same thing against joe, afraid to devoid himself from his gameplan even though he was getting out worked plain and simple. He had no plan B, he follows textbook boxing rules and does not know or refuses to grit down.
Pavlik can square up in the middle of the ring also and jab, bomb with straight rights. If it does not work he can toss you into the rope and rip the shit out of you.
I tell you all right now. Kessler is over-rated by so many. He lacks in the intangibles in my book. He looks pretty in there, but he does not have the fire in his belly. Heart and desire will carry you in this game. If you lack that spark in any way, you are vulnerable.
Joe has that spark. Pavlik also has that spark.

Calzaghe's best win was against Kessler, a rematch would be nice but i doubt Joe goes there again, he will fight Jones next and i give RJJ a real chance against a sluggish Joe Calzaghe. I'm not won over yet!

Yes he can be up there. I see Hopkins as better than him. I think Pavlik is a way harder puncher. A way better boxer. Knows how to control the ring better. He is more adaptive. He is a hell of allot meaner. He has a better chin. He beat the boxer in the rematch by boxing. He beat the living shit out of the most feared middle weight in the world and took him on the chin numerous times and never really was hurt. Pavlik has the making of the next Hagler. He has the power. He has the skill and the chin. And he has the conditioning. But the most important thing is his will and his drive to succeed. All of that together makes a great champion if not a legend like his predecessors.

I've never been a JC fan, in fact I was a self-proclaimed JC hater in the past lol Just everything about him didn't sit well with me. His padded record, his deluded personality and that real arrogance due to his padded CV, his technique. Everything was not to like for me.
Even when he beat Lacy it was like 'whatever'.
Then I picked Kessler against him and he boxed Kessler so well that, like Mick, I had to come back on here and give him his props. He was fantastic against a live, peak champion....but again I find myself disliking him after Saturday..He fought to a controversial decision with Bhop at age 43, he showed that piss-poor technique that Manny Steward described as ''amateur'' but i've seen Amateurs in their first fight punch better than that! He also called out Roy Jones who, if he beats, will be 40 years old. I kinda just find myself now praying that Roy Jones turns the clock back and knocks Calzaghe the fuck out. I dunno why. I think it may be due to the fact that Roy Jones is such a legend and I don't want his name on Calzaghe's CV so that he can trick people in the future into thinking that he beat the best because he certainly didn't in anybodies prime apart from Kessler.
I've tried not to feel like that and i did want Calzaghe's 'respect' streak to last more than one match with me (lol) but I just have to do a full 180 again and deny his greatness because of the above.
