Heres my take on who calzaghe can face:
1. RJJ, i go for calzaghe win
2. Pavlik, i go for calzghe win
3. Tarver (pointless, not much money in it and not much credit) calzaghe win
4. Dawson (time to take away dawson's 0 so he becomes the next 'jeff lacy', wait and see pre fight where all the calzaghe haters make the predictions that dawson will easily overwhelm JC, yet after the fight theyll say 'but who did dawson really fight? NAAHH...HES REALLY A BUM') calzaghe win
5. Taylor, calzaghe win, complete waste of JC's time seeing as taylor has been beaten by pavlik twice already now.
Those are the fighters who he could face. Id like to see him face 2 of those fighters:
Definately against pavlik. Pavlik is a v good fighter, hungry, powerful, exciting and great ko ratio, the clash of styles will be great to watch in the ring, if joe pulls off his slick boxing skills and combo's pavlik is in for trouble and will go down, but if pavlik can come forward and hit joe hard then joe will go down. I predict joe will tie him up in the middle of the ring like he did against lacy and fire in combos, start brawling with pavlik and be too fast for him, calzaghe to win this one. After calzaghe wins, the haters will still not rate calzaghe, theyll still find an excuse or some silly reason.
Id like him to face RJJ aswell because itll be a big money fight as it is 2 complete legends of the sport fighting against each other, something that calzaghe offered jones years ago but jones never wanted to fight him (probably not ducking joe, probably for financial reasons as it was a fight that was risky for jones yet wouldnt have had particularly much money involved so wasnt worth putting on for RJJ). Now though in millenium stadium cardiff it can be a huge fight with 70,000 fans at the stadium and millions at home. Huge payday for both fighters and a chance for RJJ if he wins to go down in the top 3 fighters of ALL TIME!!! In my opinion.
But i predict a calzaghe win and then the excuse from the haters will be that jones is past it.
One thing people seem to CONVENIENTLY FORGET PMSL IS THAT A 42 YEAR OLD HOPKINS BASHED THE SH*T OUT OF TARVER, A 41 YEAR OLD HOPKINS BASHED THE SH*T OUT OF WINKY!
Id say that at light heavy bernard is better than he was at middle weight, the fact hes 43 means he used even more dirty tactics than he did when he was younger. This was a better hopkins than the one who fought winky and tarver YET HE GOT BEAT! HE GOT BEAT BY THE
''WEAK, SLAPPING, NON STRAIGHT PUNCHING, BRAWLING WHITE BOY''
Wouldnt be ironic if the ''weak, slapping, non straight punching, brawling white boy'' turns out to beat any of the fighters america can put against him, beating the likes of eubank, reid, lacy, kessler, hopkins, jones and pavlik then retire 47,0,0 undisputed champ at 2 weights, holder of the belts for 12 friggin years and 24 odd title defenses...HAHAHAHA it reminds me of something that was said in world war 2:
There is a v famous quote of a speech made by hitler and a response by winston churchill, hitler said in a speech that the nazis would crush britain as if they were ringing a chickens neck...Winston churchill cleverly replied 'HAHA, SOME CHICKEN, SOME NECK!!!'
I think that just about sums it up perfectly, if people wanna call JC a 'weak, slapping, non straight punching brawler'... then he goes and beats every single great champ in the world including the best the us has to offer aswell...i think my response is:
''HAHA, SOME WEAK, SLAPPING, NON STRAIGHT PUNCHING BRAWLER INDEED''
So, what would that make the people saying this garbage about joe? Well simple really, it would make them look the same as hitler did saying all the garbage to great britain...and whats that?
A HATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not saying your one of the haters mate
Of course we can have an opinion on who will win a fight. Of course someone isnt a hater if they dont think calzaghe will win, thats not what im saying at all mate.
Id say calzaghe vs pavlik is 62/38 in calzaghes favour. Thats mainly because of the style clashes suiting joe.
Id say calzaghe vs jones is 60/40 in calzaghes favour.
BUT id say that a peak RJJ vs a peak JC (what we saw in the lacy fight) would be one hell of a fight, infact make that a totally unbelievable match up! I dont know how the styles would clash except there would be action involved, in terms of the way the fight would go im tempted to say it is 60/40 in RJJ's favour but im also tempted to say 50/50 aswell because i wouldnt have been suprised at all if calzaghe won that (at his prime aswell).
So i'll split and say it would be 55/45 in RJJ favour of winning that match up if it occured.
But would i mean by 'hater' is letting prejudices get in the way of judging an athlete.
For instance, i think JC would beat pavlik, 60/40 chance in my opinion, perhaps slightly higher...but if JC gets beaten by pavlik then i will not dislike pavlik (i like pavlik as a fighter anyway), i will rate him higher than JC and will definately retract my words about JC being better than pavlik...thats how i work.
I think if someone is calling a 45,0,0 fighter a 'weak, slapping, non straight punching, lucky brawler', it stinks of hate all over it. Afterall how can someone with the record of joe's and opponents hes fought be called that?
He can be criticised for throwing light flurries of punches at times, sure he can! But a 'weak, slapping, non straight punching, lucky brawler'thats pathetic.
It like saying that ali was a p*ssy because he had his jaw broke...its nonsensicle, only an ali hater would say that.
I think you should watch the taylor pavlik first fight. Look what happened when taylor and pavlik went at it in the middle of the ring against each other. Pavlik's defence let him down and he was floored in second round!
People said exactly the same thing about byron mitchell...look what happened
People said exactly the same thing about lacy...'for heavens sake calzaghe, you mustnt go and brawl with him'...so what did calzaghe doHe ran straight in and started brawling with him in the middle of the ring...then look what happened
Calzaghe loves to brawl more than 99% of other fighters, the guy is like a gypsy boxer, watch his fights and youll see he loves to come in for a brawl. Thats exactly the reason i like him so much as he can fight at range and brawl and counter aswell.
You think it will be a mistake for calzaghe to brawl in the middle with pavlik like taylor did (when he floored him in the second round)?
Maybe it will be a mistake, but we'll have to wait n see...all i can say is that people all screamed 'dont brawl' with byron mitchell, then they all screamed 'dont brawl' with lacy...the rest is history![]()
I agree Calzaghe does seem to love to trade shots in the middle of the ring IMO the reason he has been so successful at it is his hand speed and volume of punches though...He does not really hit that hard...he is not a KO puncher until the punches start to pile up does he usually stop a guy...Thing is though what will ahppen against a young guy who can stay in there and trade the volume with him?....Hasn't happened yet but just a what if you have to question....
IMO to stand and trade with Kelly would be a mistake for him big time simply because of that reason...lack of power....I don't know if he can make Kelly respect his punches enough to keep him honest so to speak...
Either way though I still go with Joe....He always seems to pull it out and no one ever seems to give him the credit for it ?
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
Exactly my point. London BB you mention Byron Mitchell but Byron Mitchell also knocked down Calzaghe..believe me if Pavlik knocks him down he's not getting back up like he did against Byron.
The Lacy fight was just accumulation and I don't consider that a brawl because Lacy was throwing one shot at a time whilst Calzaghe was using angles. You can't have a 'brawl' throwing one punch at a time.
Finally, Daxx, I did give Joe credit after the Kessler win..I was really impressed and said that he was the real deal. I said that he probably always was but didn't have the competition to show it. After the Bhop fight though, it just kinda reminded me about the things I used to hate about Calzaghe. The slappy punches, the rushing in with no defence etc. I don't know whether that's testament to Bhop for making him look ugly. Calzaghe seems to be one of those classic 'best form of defence is offence' kind of guys because he seemed against Bhop to have no defence beyond his punches.
Roll on Roy Jones Vs Calzaghe I guess..
