I don't think he is bullshit. All magic tricks are a combination of diverting attention, slight of hand, etc. His personal feats are all real. He really did stay in a block of ice, he really did stay suspended over a bridge in a pexiglass box for 44 days without food, just water... he really did stand on a 10 story platform for something like a week in new york city... unable to sit or anything.

I am pretty sure he had no breathing device when he failed to make 9 minutes... or else he would have made 9 minutes. And it is possible to hold your breath that long... it takes tons of training. Otherwise the record of 8 minutes and 58 seconds wouldn't exist.

To fault a magician because he doesn't possess any real magic is insane. He's damn good at what he does.

David Copperfield on the other hand blows. He is in a dark theatre, where spectators are at a distance, and unable to change position. By doing that, and by leaving tv spectators to depend on camera angles, he can get away with just about anything.

Personally... in your face magic is more impressive to me.
