This is the Terry Norris-John Mugabi fight. I don't know what this ref's name is but he should be given every big fight. Mugabi get's dropped and barely beats the count and deliberately takes out his mouthpiece and drops it on the canvas, hoping the ref will pause the action and pick it up and send him to a neutral corner to have it washed off and put back in, and instead of falling for this age old con or stopping the fight to take a point away like most would do, this ref just looks at it on the ground and let's Mugabi get his @ss beat without it, classic:

That would be Ref. Eddie Eckert who started getting the big fights in the late 80's after paying his dues for some years. Eckert is more remembered for being the Ref. at a lot of the MAJOR lower weight fights.

I'm not a big fan of Joe Cortez, but you should've seen him in David Diaz v Ramon Montano bout in Pac-JMM II undercard. He did an amazing trick with the lose tape on the glove. I hope someone would post a youTube video of it here.

Not only did he do that with the tape he also caught the mouth piece as it flew out and then quickly put it back in place.

What Mickey Vann did was great on the night (especially for our entertainment sake) but with hindsight that was a serious wrong'un. He took a gamble that he shouldn't have.

I see your point Fens, but that's why Smoger is a well respected Ref. who is liked. Cause he knows when to let a fight go and when to stop it.
