Actually tow-in surfing is easier than paddling in, if the ocean isn't too choppy granted. You're strapped in so you can manuever like you couldn't on a regular board and you're going much faster - you just need a big set of balls. Of course if the waves breaking are really 100 feet then yeah heh, it's gonna be some rough water and more than likely you'd need a foil board otherwise the wave surface will be tooooooooooo rough to ride.

This is about the most you can do with a typical tow-in board without eating it, and thats 60-70 feet

Jaws is an awesome wave.
There is a spot here in Ireland called "Aill na Searrach" off the west coast under the cliffs of Moher. It produces waves of atleast 70 - 80 feet high if there is a storm out further in the Atlantic, but at that height, it is un-surfable probably... the waves just crash into the cliffs with as loud a BOOM as you could imagine... then again, I'm not a surfer, so maybe some nut out there will try and surf it at that height, haha.
