Rees would make a credible opponent. Gavin himself will be better suited for lightweight and I'd expect him to go the distance with Khan.

For me, this is probably one fight too late for Khan, with the former title holder meant to be the title holder when he fought Khan. Unfortunately Kotelnik scuppered the Frank Warren machinations and meant he'll actually have to get Khan fighting a real world champ instead. I don't think Khan will be too worried about the step up in weight, if it is at LWW, and he ought to make fairly short work of Rees if he wants to be ranked among the best in the world.

I'm sure the plans were to get a shot at a lightweight title first. Don't think Khan has enough pop yet to be good at LWW. Then again, they may have planned to get the title and move straight back down, claiming to be a two weight champion .

Obviously I'm missing something, but Gavin Rees is a tiny 140 pounder, he looks like he could cut a good amount of weight and even make 130. Khan is a good sized lightweight, much taller than Rees with reach on him. What's the joke?

Hah sorry, guess I'm just not as familiar with the way Khan has been handled so much.. He has been in with a lot of small guys without power lately. Just the way you put don't go there in brackets confused me heh.
