Why criticize Mayweather for taking this fight? The money is remarkable. On top of that, I think DLH is his greatest challenge right now. Hatton and Margarito wouldn't give him as much trouble as DLH in my opinion. And this is fitting... the old master in DLH holding the torch, prepared to give it to PBF should he earn it.

Imagine if DLH knocks Floyd out, picks up the mic and says, "Thanks everyone, I retire"

    That would be Huuuuuge

And if he wins apart from the once in a lifetime $25m for one fight oppotunity, his earning power and "star status" has rocketed.... and i'm pretty sure, in the long run, helping Hatton and Margirito in the event of them fights happening

    Its a no brainer

Anyone know where this fight is taking place? When tickets go on sale?

If he makes 25 million in one night...with Oscar...he has to make 8 or 10 million a night on Hatton or Margarito?

I'll take the name & the 5 to 12 extra mill for one night's work any day. YOu would too. We all would...least I think that we would.

He beats Oscar he can then get Hatton & Marg.

Don't know about when tickets will go on sale but I'd bet anything it will be in Vegas. The betting action this fight is gonna draw makes it almost certain.

Except that if it's in Vegas, no Roger Mayweather.

They'll probably do it there anyway, a fight this huge.

Exactly. And if DLH beats PBF, then we should be begging to see DLH vs Margarito and Hatton at 147.

IF DLH gets by PBF, I think he could do in Hatton and Margarito as well... imagine that legacy. That would be huge.

GOOD... Now when Mayweather out boxes Delahoya, Hatton's victory over Floyd will be all the more sweeter !!

Wacko, where's this article lifted from? Any confirmation elsewhere? Any word on what weight they'll fight at? I'd really hate to see Floyd go up to 154.

PBF is the best available fight. But a Trinidad rematch is worth much more. Oscar is a businessman before a boxer.

My guess is he uses the Mayweather father-son beef to pass this fight up, and go at Tito again.

But Margarito deserves a shot at the big time, even more than Mayweather, because Margarito has long proven his mettle and his worth at 147.

Now if Mayweather beats Oscar on Sept 16th, I can see Mayweather willingly refusing to give Margarito or Hatton, any shot at him. I see Mayweather doing a rematch with Judah, and then fighting the winner of Vargas/Mosely.

Margarito hasnt fought anyone to warrant a shot at Mayhweather.

When he has fought the 2nd tier opponents like Gatti, Judah, Maussa and so on then he can say he deserves Flloyd.

And Hatton, is fighting, champions,. regardless of who they are, they are World Champions, and he admitted he doesnt want to fight Mayweather yet, so how is he getting snubbed?

The question is - from some pure level where boxing exists untouched by the real world - is DLH-PBF a fight that "moves boxing forward?" Is it a fight that, not made, leaves boxing incomplete? Or is it not about boxing really at all, but only about money and fame and chicks and glamour? In which case, one might argue, the fight should not take place.

That's not my question, however, and not my argument. Personally I want to see this fight, and I don't think boxing exists apart from its place in the real world. It is a dirty, nasty, brutal, bloody corrupt, sweaty, foolish, sometimes fixed, other times broken, sport, and there is no moving it forward to be had within the confines of history. Gotta love it just like it is.

Let'm fight, let'm earn their money, and let us watch.

    That's boxing.

father son beef would make this fight even more interesting. i see two promos
    1. mayweather vs odh
    2. father vs son
    3. father vs uncle

this fight has to be kept in NYC, so that Uncle Mayweather can train Floyd.

Roger Mayweather can still train Floyd, he just can't be at the fight. A trainers job though is done in training, not ringside. Roger has assistant trainers on the team that work with Floyd throughout camp and one of them can simply be in his corner, it won't make a difference.
