I thought Hatton on points but wouldnt it be just like the Colazzo fight. If Hatton has any more close 1s I dont think he will get any favours off the judges now. Magee wasnt known as a particularly hard hitter but he gave Hatton nightmares with his speed. I just think if Forbes had a pick of a superfight with a realistic chance he should go for Ricky . Zab Judah is a another big name I think Forbes might beat . Hes there for the taking IMO .

but why exactly would an established champion like hatton opt to fight a steve forbes when their are much bigger paydays out there for much easier work!!

I give lazcano slim to none to beat hatton, i give malinaggi a fighters chance but no more than that and i expect that hatton will stop him late on.

As for steve forbes vs ricky hatton = a hard fought grinding UD for hatton that offers nothing but more questions about whether he is now a spent force and should consider hanging up his gloves.

Hatton would decision Forbes. He's too fast and relentless and Forbes just doesn't throw enough or have the power to keep Hatton off of him.

I'd be interested to hear why you think Hatton could stop Malignaggi when Cotto couldn't?

It's not as if Hatton has an endless number of big paydays to choose from though.. 140 is actually a pretty scarce division at the moment. I also wouldn't be surprised if based solely on his fight against Oscar this weekend, Forbes brought a bigger payday to the table than anyone else at 140 besides Ricky. I mean Malignaggi has very little drawing power that I'm aware of, he easily could have lost his last fight on top of that, Witter is obviously far to unknown for Hatton to consider fighting(), doesn't leave many other options. Stevie Forbes would have been a much better fight than Lazcano, surely you'd have to agree there?

Malignaggi has a decent fanbase at MSG, but not really outside of there.
Lazcano was on FNR3, but most people still don't know anything about him.
Forbes would do well to challenge Hatton if everything else falls through.
Could be a decent payday for both.

Yea I know Malignaggi is semi popular in NY, and I could be wrong, I just think the fact that Forbes as much as gave a decent account of himself against Oscar on saturday makes him more markatable than Paulie or anyone else Hatton could fight, by a stride. He lost the fight, but Malignaggi almost lost his last fight against the very unknown Ngoudjo, he's not much more of an appetizing opponent imo. Also I think Paulie would probably have a better chance to beat Ricky. Hatton-Forbes is probably pretty likely right about now imo. I guess they do have Malignaggi fighting on the Hatton undercard though, have to see how he looks there.

I agree Hatton's best option cash wise is probably Forbes and behind that Witter (I'm sure 90% of the UK would be there to support Hatton in that one) Then Malignaggi, then Torres. I really wish Judah would have gone back down to 140.

Hows the crack smoking going for you?... Hatton is a contant presure, high output fighter... Relentless! Hatton is also a very strong fighter... Ask Tszyu... Castillo?

You rank Forbes higher then just these two of Ricky's many opponants?

Steve is slick and fast... Good movement. He has only 9 KOs to his credit in his entire career... Most of his career was spent fighting fair opposition... Nothing special and being employed as a sparing partner.

Please enlighten me on how this feather fisted, past his prime, B+ level former champion would put a chink in Ricky's armour...

    I'd love to hear it

weel for one ricky cant handle fighting at 147 we saw that when luis collazo, that big puncher that he is, nearly ripped rickys head off and kicked his ass all over the ring....forbes has proven he can hang with bigger guys and take their best leather. fighting a short-stack like ricky would be no prob for forbes. i think steve is very underrated and a good boxer and if dlh couldnt bully him little ricky fatboy aint gonna bully him. i see forbes ooutboxing hima nd hurting ricky
