Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
Jerry Cooney made less than $2 million for fighting Larry Holmes.Originally Posted by chamiley

I don't know who Jerry Cooney is but watch legendary nights Holmes-Cooney. Merchant said Cooney made one of the biggest payday ever over $20 million dollars and it was the highest grossing fight ever at that time. of course now the highest grossing fight is lewis-tysonOriginally Posted by clean

Cooney didn't even make $20 million in his entire career earnings.

Yeah Sal, why do you do stupid stuff like that that takes up a whole page?
And this fight is NOT confirmed. It's a just wishful thinking on all of our parts. But if DLH passes on PBF, then PBF-Hatton should happen this year.
eastside boxing's articles are written by guyz like you and me. Larry Merchant was the HBO broadcaster for that fight and he said in Legendary nights that cooney made $20 million, I think Larry is the more credible source. plus the fight drew huge attention worldwide. Larry Holmes vs. Gerry Cooney was one of the biggest closed-circuit/pay-per-view productions in history, broadcast to over 150 countries.Originally Posted by clean

Chamiley, I have Legendary Nights on tape. Larry didn't say Cooney made $20 million. The commentator said the fight GROSSED more than $20 million. There was no ppv back then, only closed circuit, for which fighters did not get a percentage of. And just for the record, at that time the biggest single pay day for any athlete in history was Sugar Ray Leonard the year earlier, when he earned $12 million for his fight against Hearns. Sorry but Cooney didn't make no $20 mil. By the way, here's another source saying he didn't even make $3 mil.Originally Posted by chamiley
