    50/50 sounds more reasonable.

    Campbell-Casamayor goes to bid!

FightNews was informed Tuesday by both Terry Trekas, co-promoter of Nate Campbell, and Eric Gomez, vice-president and matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, that the highly anticipated bout between WBO/WBA/IBF lightweight champion Campbell and WBO interim champion Joel Casamayor would go to purse bid. WBO president Francisco "Paco" Valcárcel notified Trekas and Don King (co-promoter of Campbell) Tuesday afternoon that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer was willing to make the fight between Campbell and Casamayor. Valcárcel stated to Trekas and King “They want to make the fight!” In a sudden turn of events just a few hours later, Trekas and King were informed by Valcárcel that Golden Boy had requested that the fight go to a purse bid. Gomez stated to FightNews: “We tried negotiating with Don King and it didn't work. We informed Paco today that we want to go to purse bid.”

For the past couple of weeks, Golden Boy Promotions has offered Campbell a lucrative pay-per-view fight against Juan Manuel Marquez with the winner possibly fighting the victor of a proposed September 13th bout between Casamayor and Juan Diaz. Campbell and Trekas have steadfastly declined the opportunity and proclaimed that they want to unify the titles. “Nate doesn’t care about the money,” said Trekas. “It’s about pride, the pride of unifying the titles. Nate has WBO, the WBA and the IBF belt, therefore he is a ‘super’ champion under the WBO regulations. Casamayor is called the WBO ‘interim’ champion. Casamayor is his mandatory. Okay, we will beat Casamayor and then we will fight the winner of (Manny) Pacquaio-(David) Diaz to unify all of the belts.”

Campbell has also confirmed his willingness to fight Casamayor, in so much that he will accept a 50-50 purse instead of the traditional 80-20 split. “I'm the world champ, I have three world title belts, and I am the WBO super champion and he is the interim champ,” stated Campbell. “It SHOULD be 80-20 my way but for the opportunity to knock his a** into retirement once and for all, I'll take the 50-50. It's actually almost worth the 30% cut for the opportunity to stomp a mudhole in his a**. So bring on the purse bid!"

Man when was the last time all four alphabets were on the line? Lewis?

I would absolutely love to see this fight happen.

I predict a Campbell vs. Pacquiao unification fight for all 4 lightweight belts late this year...

Campbell holds 3 major titles and Casamayor holds the Ring belt which his promoter happens to own. Enough said, Casa doesn't want this fight unless he absolutely has to, thats my opinion.

Thing is who else is there at lightweight that can be even considered worthy of a match against Casa? David Diaz is booked.

With the recent move of PAC to lightweight, there's an exodus of super featherweight stars following the footsteps of PAC... There's JMM, MAB and Guzman... Casa can pick one from this group...
