Hatton cannot be deemed to have ducked Witter. Hatton openly refused to give Witter a fight because he did not want to allow Witter to make money off his name.
Witter proved last Saturday that he was not on Hatton's level.
Witter after last Saturday's performance is not on Paulie's level either.
Witter never beat anyone that merited a shot at the No.1 spot.
Before sturday Witter had a better (evens at worse) resume than Paulie. No other LWW comes close to meriting a shot at no.1 than Witter.
WHO did Hatton beat to merit a shot at no.1 Kostya?
WHO did, URANGO, MAUSSA, CASTILLO, LAZCANO beat to merit a shot at the no.1 Hatton?
Urango was champion when Hatton fought him,Ricky was stepping back down from WW to win his old belt back off Urango.
Urango didn't even win the fight he was gifted that belt in, he still got Hatton as his next fight.

here here, I had Ben Rabah up 9 rounds to 3. Urango only won the 5th, 11th and 12th rounds.

Witter looked crap over the weekend but how some of you can turn this into a masterplan from Ricky is totally laughble...

i for one am sad they did not fight... on last weekends showing Ricky ((if he has the form of old that is)) would have won a fantastic english rivalry and gave his fans the "REAL HOMECOMING" instead of the farce they are touting now.

Really frustrated that this fight didnt happen and i'm sure there isnt a Hatton fan about who would not have rather seen Ricky demolish Witter instead.

but how some of you can say he aint giving Witter a pay day blah blah you are fans of the sport not how much a fighter gets paid..... Witter was no2 hatton was no 1 in the UK and for me i couldn't give a rats arse how much they got paid it was a fight that should have been made but Ricky denied the fans the chance of seeing it because he didnt like witter.....it stinks IMO.

this fight is now a lost event that would have been a huge in the UK.

    Cheers Ricky

Yeah I'm with you Saddo, even as a Ricky fan. Ricky should have been in that ring Saturday night and he would have beaten Witter worse than Bradly did IMO. I'm sure Hatton would be more keen to make the fight now but obviously the demand is down the shitter.

Ricky missed out on what could have been another great win of his career, beat a long term domestic rival in Witter and then maybe go for a big money fight again.

I can see why (if it's the case) Hatton avoided Witter after his defeat to Floyd because Witter looked brilliant againsed Harris.

The thing is Harris was shot to hell!

Witter was calling out Hatton just for me.

I genuinely believe Ricky when he said he just wanted to prevent Witter getting minted off his name

Honestly think hatton would of been more dissapointed at seeing witter get beat on saturday than anyone else.

In witter hatton saw a retirement nest egg that would set him up long after he is finished as a pro boxer. Somewhere down the line these 2 would of met and hatton would of made more money off of fighting junior than any other light welterweight.

Now though he is pretty much between a rock and a hard place. If he fights witter in lets say a years time it`ll be not half as prosperous financially as it would of been had he of fought him on saturday. And even if hatton does dispose of junior he`ll AGAIN be accused of beating up washed up boxers.

I think you are seriously overestimating the money Hatton would generate from Witter. Sure, it would be a lot. It wouldnt be much more than by meeting anyone else though - he already sold 50'000 tickets for fighting Lazcano. And Hatton shouldnt really woried about his finances anyway - not after the Mayweather fight at least.

Secondly Hatton's fortune is based on being the premier English fighter. If anyone were starting to doubt that claim, thinking he might not even be the best around his own weight, well, they're proven wrong by now. Without Hatton even having to step in the ring.

Finally - the retirement nest for Hatton is not Witter. It is Amir Khan.

I know Harris was shot but Witter did seem like a totally different fighter that night from the norm. He looked a lot more powerful than normal I thought he reached his absolute peak.

If Hatton beat Witter on Sat, it would have been a great addition to his resume (even though Witters rating of no.2 was a bit much)
