1) The Ring - Most definitive
2) WBC - Most ties to the Ring
3) IBF - Least corruption
4a) WBO - Just another title
4b) WBA - Just another title
I consider all other titles to be minor league titles.
Why do americans still use the terms "junior" middleweight, "junior" welterweight etc
makes the divisions sound really gay!!
for what its worth ive always regarded the WBC championship to be the pinnacle of world championship boxing despite what ring magazine or the WBOdd will tell you.
WBC, WBO, Ring magazine - all the others are just mickey mouse belts anyone who boxes to a decent standard can win!!

Of the belts I believe the one the fans themselves hold in highest regard Is The Ring Title.
Of the 'Major" more recongnized belts It's like trying to pick the Girl with the least offensive Stench & B.O to take home to meet the family![]()
Despite all that is wrong with the WBA, I find it weird that people think they've only just descended into madness. They instituted the Super Champion-thing a few years ago (if I remember correctly on request by Lennox Lewis). Hell, even Sven Ottke was a WBA Super Champ!
Also, it should be said that the point of that rule (besides making more money for the WBA) is to make it easier for champs to unify. That should be applauded, shouldnt it?
I agree with this one - although I might put WBA as 3b) with IBF 3a). After all the WBA does have a (significantly) greater legacy than WBO.
its all politics though isnt it!!
Hatton was 43-0 at Light welter and yet only ever held the IBO and IBF versions of the titles despite fighting the best there was to offer every single time.
Wlad Klitschko is universally considered the world heavyweight champ yet sam peter owns the WBC version.
If the various organisations do come to their senses eventually and decide to work in unison to unify every division these discussions will never be had.
But that wont happen in my lifetime and i very much suspect in the coming years the P4P world champion will own nothing more than an IBO or WBA championship!!
I am serious mate....Think about it...How many actual IBO fight cards can you think of?....How many where the title was the main event prize so to speak?...Other then seeing a champion who somehow just ends up withn the title as part of his collection can your really name any IBO title fights off the top of your head?....Its crazy.....I liken the title to that guy who seems to be at all the party's you attend eating food, drinking up the free booze yet no one knows who the hell he is....You know his face because he is always around but other then that nothing....Crazy

Hopkins - tarver
Hatton - Castillo..
I think they were both IBO title fights werent they? LolAlthough they were both about a bit more then a title really.. that was just matchmaking.. plus technically the ibo title that say hopkins won from tarver or that hatton kept at 140.. were the lineal titles
![]()
Thing is i bet in some small city shows if you think about it there will be ibo titles at stake in main events.. S'kinda just like the same profile as usba or nabf or a state title.. Prob considered a bit bigger but sure why not..
Immortal Technique
LOL once again though...The IBO title went with the Ring Title Tarver had....He got the IBO title in his bout with Jones, No one can name where Jones picked up the title, and like I mentioned earlier why is it Tarver lost all the other belts but kept that one....You can never tell where it came from and you can never lose it....
Though Lennox Lewis held te belt as well for a long long time...Wlad has the belt at HW...someow they have Tarver as their LHW champion....(Thought he lost that to Hopkins?)...Tyen whole thing gives me a headache![]()
