I really think The lt Heavys will cause some problems for Byrd as they will be punching with Byrd as opposed to him out speeding bigger Heavys.Wonder about Conditioning-stamina after the shrink down and He's not shedding the years and battle damage like the weight.Should be very interesting.

I wont make a judgement on him as it will be fullish for anyone to form an opionion on him without having seem him fight at that weight.

I will say however that dropping that much weight can't be to his advantage.

He does have the advantage of having taken heavyweight shots, from some big hitters at heavy no less, so he brings his heavyweight chin with him.

I don't know about that the accumulation of all those heavyweight punches may be a decided disadvantage as well, as Mick said I will reserve judgement until I see hime in the ring.

Mighty impressive. I wish Byrd had entered the crusierweight or light heavyweight division years ago, I think he would have been one of the most dominate forces there with the exception of Roy Jones Jr

I think his stamina will be way better you wont see him laying on the ropes half the fight I bet, he should kick some ass, he still has some time IMO.

Your 1st instinct was on point......When a strong thing for Byrd is proving a solid chin over and over......Thats say's something.Wish him luck,Should be fun to watch over time.

Also when you look at the LHW's they aren't exactly spring chickens either theres alot of old foggies hanging out in LHW. Well old for boxing anyway. Excluding Dawson of course and a few other up and comers.

I really want him to do well at light heavy but honestly in the entire history of boxing has there ever been a fighter who dropped 40 lbs and moved down a couple divisions and looked good?

It ruined Jones Jr and Tarver and they were never heavyweights to begin with.

Byrd has been a heavy for a decade, it can't be a good thing to lose all that weight.

I hope he manages to prove people wrong though. I've never heard of his opponent so hopefully this is an easy fight to get him adjusted to 175lbs and then he can build from there.

Byrd has always been a class act out of the ring so I wish him well.

Off the top I remember Fabrice Tiozzo shed about 16-18 pnds down to win a Lt.Heavy belt, down from Cruiser. It's had to have happened way back before the 'Jr's And Super divisions.Just a few weeks ago,Mount Whitaker came back after losing 40 pounds and looked bad.....a bit different,he was crap'olla to begin with
