Good news for fans on both sides......i actually wish both camps and fans luck. I gotta roll with diane on this one, i could see this turning out to be fight of the year. This will be an event (not just fight) that i will happily skip buying diapers to pay for. In case my wife reads this...i was just kidding honey, sorta.

I think Cotto is in a class above Margarito at this point. I would be surprised if Margarito were able to make it competitive enough to be considered a great fight at all. I expect a very entertaining one sided beatdown personally, though it isn't out of the question Tony could hurt Cotto.
Oh man,I am Stoked and borderline drooling. This will be a fighters fight.Cotto better technique and has made some nice Improvments...Margarito finally getting some over due respect.Far more than a one deminsional brawler.I love this fight.........And Im Picking Margarito via late rounds TKO.Both will take damage to the body....Let the Fighters fight.... and the Diva's Rematch

I am going with Margarito... Tony is bigger, stronger, has a cast iron chin and has an erotic fetish with dishing and recieving pain... Tony's gonna be on his ass like a buzz saw from the 1st bell and wont stop

Back to ya JT......I have boo-koo respect for Cotto but Margarito gets nothing but stronger down the stretch.I can envision Cotto targeting that body big time and giving Tony some problems with that jab.Ultimately I feel Margarito can come 'under' Cotto with mass rangy angels ,get him on his heels and produce some lumps/cuts and mutual hurt to the body.Improved body puncher himself.Great match up...can not wait.
I don't think Cotto is going to come in with a game plan that is in any way similar to the one he initially implemented against Mosley. I think Cotto will box and move from the opening bell, much like he did in the latter rounds against Mosley. Whether Margarito is going to allow him to do that remains to be seen.
I'm leaning ever so slightly towards Margarito taking this, especially if he can drag Cotto into a war.
Cotto can box going backwards didn't you see his fight vs Lovemore Ndou ?? he boxed on the back foot the entire night against Ndou. He didn't need to box on the back foot against Mosley because he was landing solid jabs and fighting on the back foot would of took away the snap and the power of the jab plus Mosley never really hurt Cotto until later rounds.
And lets remember how wide Margarito's punches are, so i think in exchanges Cotto's much shorter punches especially the hooks, would win exchanges for him and pile up the points. One thing that is worrying is that Margarito has very good uppercut which is Cotto's biggest flaw IMO.
But put it this away if Cotto uses his superior boxing skills he should win, although he should keep off the ropes as much as possible, because Magarito does some of his best work when his opponent is on the ropes, and he has stopped several opponents in that position. If its a brawl i expect Margarito to win just because he is so big for a Welterweight, and although he may not be 1 hit KO type of fighter, he is physically very strong and stronger than Cotto IMO.
I have to agree. His uppercut will be launching all night. I can see Cotto having great success early with his speed advantage, but Margarito will catch up to him and will start landing. What will happen then? I have no idea, but it will be exciting!hehe
It is not always a battle of skills, but a battle of wills. I cannot predict this one or will even attempt to. Cotto is far more talented, but Margarito is a monster in there and has underrated skills.

I think we will see a Cotto Counterpunching extravaganza. Margarito will come forward thinking that Cotto will just cover up. He (Cotto) will stick and move and make MArgo pay for that. In the Middle rounds the fight will be more relax(Boxing) because Margarito learned his lesson that you just don't do that with Cotto.![]()
