I saw the fight much the same way you did. Most close fights have a lot of close rounds, but that fight didn't. I thought Ike clearly won 7 rounds, Oscar clearly won 4 rounds, and there was one round that was up for grabs. But no matter who you gave that one round to, Quartey would still be ahead on the scorecards.
There should have been a rematch, not just because it had a controversial decision, but also because it was a very entertaining fight that people would have wanted to see a second time.
I think Quartey would have beaten Whitaker if that fight had come off. He would have been too big, strong, and active for Whitaker at that point. It probably would have looked a little bit like Trinidad vs. Whitaker.But i don't know if i would have liked to have seen the faded 98 version of Whitaker vs prime Quartey if im honest.
