This article reeks of the type of shock jocky journalism that is so often precipitated by a writer's editor/publisher saying.."Your reader list is really starting to shrink and we need you to get people talking and reading!"

He lost me in the second paragraph with the SRL-Ashton Kucher analogy, I'm not a SRL fan but that is just foolish....I'm trying to read the whole article but the bias is soo thick you would think the guy walked in on de La Hoya boning his lady or something.....
1) What? His fifth fight dude cmon...really? Mayweather had 20 something pro fights already under his belt....horrible start...
2)Nitpicking under 15 fights this guy is busting nuts still. So what if that was a gimme, I guess by this guys standard guys got fight for the title by 10 fights...
I'v read over most of the rest and I'm done....so what ODLH was a big SF/lightweight geez this guy must really hate Celestino Caballero.
It's just an absolutely pitiful premise that the article is based upon... DLH being "bigger" than many of his opponents. I mean for crying out loud, if they weren't big enough to fight him, why were they at that weight beforehand? He doesn't even really reference many opponents moving up in weight, simply discredits Oscar for being bigger.. The fact that they both cut down to make exactly the same weight I suppose counts for nothingFact is that if someone is fighting at a weight which is TO low for them to make comfortably, they will always suffer the consequences of being drained. Why not bring up how unfair it was for Chris Byrd to take on Shaun George last week, a guy who has fought 40 lbs below him for years. What a punk Chris Byrd is for taking on such a smaller, less experienced opponent. Oscar obviously had an excellent team behind him, and was a master of manipulating his bodyweight and rehydrating properly afterwards... That is a testament to his dedication, just as grueling training is, or just as fighting a hard 12 rounds is. The guy who wrote this article is a complete moron.
What an asshole, couldn't even get to the end was such bullshit, hated giving his post the extra click, wonder what this guy is doing these days, probably judging fights.
Whoever wrote that should be shot. Twice.
I can't agree with him critizing what DLH did for most of his career.. He was brilliant in and out of the ring, and became one of the most well known boxers to people outside the sport for a reason...
However I continue to lose respect for him as a person, and to a small extent as a fighter the longer he goes on in the boxing game...
That's just my personal opinion though...
And I wouldn't find it to harsh to transfer the word "fraud" over into describing a Mayweather vs ODLH II if it comes about..
I'm not a huge DLH fan but I think DLH must have BANGED this guys girlfriend or something because he's talking a load of crap. Is there anyone who DLH HAS NOT fought ?
Quartey, Trindad, Rafeal Ruelas, Mayweather, Mosley.
He fought them all in there prime and you could make any argument (bar Mosley 1) that he won them all.
Not to mention he fought Whittaker, Chavez, jesus christ, he fought B-Hop after B-Hop destroyed Trinidad. Cmon...Is this guy Bob Arum in disguise ? (lol) I barely made past the 1st sentence after he dissed SRL. How can you take this man seriously when he doesn't rate a fighter who has beaten Hagler, Hearns and Duran ?
I rest my case

Not shit amat.... This shit is a fucken piece of garbage...
While I'm sure many nicknames came about through his career, that I can recall on the career set I have I've only ever heared him announced by 2 distincted nicknames. The 1st one being "The Aztec Warrior" and the 2nd being "El Gran Campeon Mexicano"....
I've also read "El Leon De Culiacan", "J.C. Chavez", "El Hijo De Mexico" among others.
Rubbish. This guy is clueless.
And hey, don't mess with Dude Where's my Car. Its a work of art and will go down along with Casablanca, Citizen Kane and the Silence of the Lambs as alltime great Movies. LOL.
You can make some arguments against ODLH, but this certainly wasn't a argument made with 1 ounce of validity.
Exactly.. I thought before I read the thing, "hmmm, De La Hoya a Fraud? That's going to be a pretty tough sell". But I was interested in what angle he might take, at first.. The fact that it's basically targeted at the one aspect of DLH's career you CAN'T discredit, is just bizzare.
I never even caught the SRL diss in there, had to go back to read it. This guy makes me want to puke this is just one of those things that you wish you didn't read. Kind of like watching that guy who hates Zelenoff on youtube, Claudio![]()
