But if it's an either-or situation, I'd say Cotto is the man to fight at 147 right now. Anyone else and Mayweather should be ashamed of himself. There's dollars to be made there, and legacy. It's the fight that makes the most sense from any point of view, financial or career-defining.
I assume you mean after the DLH rematch? Cuz there's no way fighting Cotto rather than Oscar again would make any sense for Floyd. I mean financially(which is really what matters to a fighter), it would make more sense for Floyd to rematch Hatton in the UK... He'd make a lot more money than he would against Cotto after all.. I'm not saying I want to see either of these fights, but I really have a hard time criticizing a fighter for taking the obvious highest payday out there. The fact is Floyd really can't sell anything on his own, it has to be about his opponent at this point. And Cotto is no big sell just yet either.
Well any heavyweight can make more money fighting Tyson then anybody else but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Cotto-Mayweather is bigger then 99% of fights out there and I don't believe for a second that it wouldn't be a record breaker everyone I talk to who knows boxing wants that fight.
Precisely, if he really wanted to make money he'd be fighting more often and it wouldn't be a case of either/or.

The used by date has expired for Sugar Shane i am sorry to say because he is one of my favourites, like Tszyu before him time catches up with you eventually. Any possible match up with Floyd could not happen until 2009 when Mosley will be pushing 38!!
Of course thats what should happen...but i dont think it will

Floyd now has the star quality to be able to dictate how often in a year he defends his title of "p4p king" and where he does it.

The guy has all the cards to play with and i honestly cant see him looking past a summer 2009 rematch with hatton at wembley stadium, both financially and in terms of floyd believing it would be an easier night than fighting the winner of cotto/marg.
There is no way on earth that Hatton will get a rematch with PBF anywhere, anytime. Why would he deserve it in his own backyard? He got flattened in the first fight and was never in the fight! If the fight was close i could understand it but really the only option for Mayweather money wise and legacy wise is to fight and beat Miguel Cotto.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Mayweather/ Mosley fight; Mosley fought well enough against Cotto to be competitive but unfortunately I can't see it fitting into the schedule. Floyds got DLH in September then the only fight he should take next is the winner of Cotto/ Margarito (Cotto IMO). After that it could possibly happen but Mosley ain't getting any younger. Depends though on Mosley's next opponent: if its a top guy & he dominates then there maybe some demand for it after the Cotto showdown.

If Margarito wins, who would you most want to see Floyd face? Margarito, Cotto, Hatton, Mosley or even another De La Hoya bout.

I have no interest in Mayweather - Margarito unless Margarito suddenly looks fast. I think Cotto would still be the fight but in that case I would love to see him fight Mosley.

If Margarito defeats Cotto then he should get the next shot at Floyd, maybe a Cotto/ Mosley rematch could determind Mayweathers next opponent after that.

Whoever wins Cotto/ Margarito I'll be interested in seeing them in against Floyd

    I think it's more worth watching than PBF-ODH 2.

As someone mentioned earlier, at their primes at lightweight...Floyd vs. Shane would be a dream match up. Or the Shane that fought Oscar in their first fight vs. Floyd would also be pretty incredible. Shane is still a tremendous warrior (i had his fight with Cotto a draw), but he looked noticeably slower in the Cotto fight...and his blazing speed and athleticism where his biggest assets. He still would be no pushover against Floyd now...but Shane in his prime would be a tremendous challenge for Mayweather.
