    If he beats Floyd he wins easily. A win over Floyd alone would get him fighter of the year, just like Hatton won solely from beating Kostya. The Mayorga win just adds alittle.

    I agree with you. If this fight does indeed take place then without a doubt the winner will be fighter of the year and deservedly so in my opinion.

    I would say it's a certainty that if Oscar beats the p4p number 1 in the world he will be fighter of the year. And if Floyd beats 6 weight world champ legend De La Hoya and Zab Judah in the same year that would be pretty hard to ignore.

    Hatton got it last year on the basis of one fight alone so either Mayweather or Oscar would deserve it more.

    The only challenge is probably Jermain Taylor if he wins decisively against Winky.
